I've recently become enamored by the construction of the Ork Battlewagon, and how it came into the possession of the Greenskins. I'm assuming of course that the original structure is of Imperial origin, and while this may or may not be the case, I've decided that I'd like to explore the origins of the vehicle.

What does this mean? Quite simply, I'm interested in creating an Imperial vehicle using a heavily converted (de-converted?) Ork Battlewagon. The objective here is to make something along the lines of a modern-day MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected), that can serve as an appropriate proxy for something already in the Imperial Arsenal. Ideally, this would be for the Guard, but I'm willing to look at the Space Marine arsenal of possibly even as a repurposed civilian vehicle for the origins of such a construction.

Does anyone have any examples of this particular idea being executed? Images, references, etc., would all be great. I am an avid converter, but thus far I've stuck to very subtle and small-scale changes, nothing as major as this. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I agree, the chassis of the BW and the trukk are quite sensible underneath all the orky bling and repairs, rather implyimg they're based on looted IG (or civilian) vehicles. If you don't mind replacing pretty much all the bodywork, the chassis is a great base for other races' vehicles.

I have seen trukks converted into counts-as Chimeras - rather amateurishly, alas, but the idea was good.

For the BW, I think the best match would be any of the Chimera-based artillery - especially on a shortened BW minus one pair of front wheels. Build an IG-style half-track body around the cannon/howitzer, shouldn't be too difficult. Make the effort to match the IG vehicle look as much as possible.

Or if you just want some really cool scenery, the BW chassis would make for a great heavy recovery vehicle with a crane on the back. Or as the front of a tank transporter vehicle.

I can't find the pictures right now, but I have seen it done a few times. I don't know what they used it as. I know one was converted to look like an Arbites riot vehicle. Will try to find pics/links.

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

That doesn't really look like an Imperial vehicle. It's still covered in Orky weldspots, repair plates, and so on. It's just painted more Imperial-ish.

However, Dave Taylor did some incredible Ork trukk to Imperial Guard vehicle conversions. Lots of plasticard, but they're still somewhat recognizable. You can check them out here:

AWESOME references. Thanks Diamond and SRM.

I may not get around to this for months, but at least now I have something to set my sights on. I need to purchase a Battlewagon to look at the components in detail. The next step will be the conversion.
