Yeah. Google's given me nothing but BS. Does GW use a standard font, or is it a custom printing thing? Any links would be nice.

Helvetica. It's pretty much the definition of generic. But it looks so damn good.

Really? I'll try it. I learned about helvetica in an art class once.

It's pretty much the king of modern fonts. I prefer Century Gothic as far as sans seriff fonts go, but Helvetica's very simple, refined, and professional looking, and can be used damn near anywhere. What makes it so good is that it pretty much represents the true neutral, as far as fonts are concerned. In other words, it removes all sense of personality that a font might add to the text or logo, leaving the text to speak for itself.
It almost single-handedly revolutionized advertising in the 50's and 60's.

Welcome to the wonderful world of graphic design and, more specifically, typography.

Granted you can get equally fitting fonts from other sources for a fraction of that price. I usually wouldn't pay more than $15 for a font when I was still in the business.

Compare that price, though, to a design job that nets you $4,000 for two weeks' work, and you can understand the pricing a little bit better.

You can also look at www.dafont.com. It may take a bit, there are lots of fonts there and searching takes patience.

Also check out this font, called JSL Ancient.

This has been an eye-opener. I never realized, being the ludite that I am, fonts had such a varied and influential history. Helvetica is something I never recognized as such a conciously designed thing; but then again, I guess that was the point!

Some backwater sump

There's a documentary called "Helvetica" that is pretty interesting. Kinda drags in the second half, though.
