Subject: Going out with a bang [40k RPG] -- WE NEED PLAYERS

The planet Tannerith is one of three planets in the Chicarkis system in the galactic south, at the furthest of the Imperium's boundry of known and controlled space. Tannerith is a remote world, with a limited population of thirty-six million. It is self sustaining, and it produces everything it needs. Compared to most of the worlds in the Imperium's iron grip, it is a paradise, although it is little in comparison to the garden and paradise worlds. While it hasn't paid it's annual tithes for more than three decades, this has gone overlooked in the beauracratic nightmare that is the administratum. Its surface is mostly desert, and geysers are abundant in the more southern regions of the planet. On the northen area of the planet, there are large deposits of minerals, rocks, and mountains. There are many strange gases in the atmosphere that are high in the sky, that the people harness for power and other reasons. City's are scattered around the planet, and it has nothing in the way of "proper" defenses, but at the edge of the galaxy, the planet has been attacked many times, and the populace have had to look out for themselves. Their military force, which takes up only several thousand of their populace, mostly uses weaponry such as autoweapons, and while they have very few of the specialised weapons such as powerfists and power weapons, the blades cut from the unique minerals in the north are as sharp and strong as any other in the Imperium. The planet's craftsmen, builders and architects have created their own baracades and defenses from which to repell alien invaders, and the city's are heavily defended. The populace is stubbornly resiliant and independant, and most are highly skilled in their own profession. Most jobs stay the same within a family, the offspring of a family being apprenticed in the work of their parents in most cases. The planets population live in relitive prosperity, and while not particularly devout in the teachings and ways of the Ecclesiarchy, they still believe the Emperor is "God" in the loosest term, and often look to him for spiritual and social guidance. The people are usually a happy folk, and the amazingly beautiful blue rings around their planet make for the biggest attraction for systems all around. One of the other planets is a feral world, ruled over by nomadic warrior tribes, and it is a cold, white world of snow, ice and mountains, with truly epic creatures competing for survival and dominance with each other and the humans. The other world is highly secretive, and while the people of Tannerith have space capabilities, they have no reasons to use them; they have no wish to disturb the anarchic ice world, content to let its inhabitants' civilisation develop naturally, and the other planet appears to be military ruled, and any attempts to enter the planets atmosphere has resulted in the destruction of all craft by the planets' three massive space stations.
All three planets are independant of each other, but against the coming darkness, will they have to unite?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right, this takes place on Tannerith. I won't reveal the plot yet. If you want to join in in an adventure for survival, then fill out a character sheet below:
Character name:
Character age:
Character profession:
Character personality:
Character appearance:
Character height:
Character equipment:
Character bio/background story:
If you want to make this more random and easier/interesting for yourself, use the link below to get information for a character and then fill out the form above.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhadvanced.html (please pick "Imperial World" when working out the character, and ignore the career options, and if you use the random background generator, please change the career choices to something else, and feel free to change the names if you see it fit.)
I shall be the DM in this, and hopefully we'll all have some fun.
EDIT: if you can find some sort of picture that you want your character to look like, then please, feel free to post it. BUT don't do it if you're gonna make a blacksmith look like He'stan.
These are the only weapons and vehicles (and the number) the military can use:
Units:
Chimera x43 (utilizes acidic gas spewer, and autocannon)
Bane Wolf x27
Hydra Flak tank x10
Valkyrie x16
Leman Russ Exterminator x4
Leman Russ Punisher x8
Sentinals x17
Rough Rider units x3
Veteran units x67
Heavy weapons squads - too many to put a number on it!
Infantry squads - too many to put a number on it!
Platoon command squads - too many to put a number on it!
Special weapons squads - too many to put a number on it!
Company command squads - too many to put a number on it!
'Ecclesiarchal' Priests - x26
Weapons:
any weapon that utilizes bullets; autoweapons, machine guns, etc etc
Tannerithian blades - made by the best craftsmen on the planet with the strongest and sharpest resources on the planet, very reliable and cuts through most materials. Only gifted to the very best sword wielders. Two handed swords/axes are basically Relic Blades from the SM codex, minus the power weapon bit.
Normal blades - Swords/knives/daggers/combat blades all made from standard metals, such as steel.
Other weapons - Warhammers, two-handed swords, axes, spears - anything with a blade. Many take a great pride in their martial ability, but it is deemed unskilled and pathetic to use such weapons like knuckledusters etc.
Missile Launchers
Frag grenades
Gas grenades, various types.
Bolt weapons (function using powerful toxins and gases inside standard bolt shell unlike boltguns in the rest of the imperium, but no less potent. Hellfire rounds are extremely common, and veteran units regularly have boltgun wielders amongst their ranks)
Gas/toxin/acid spewers
ARMOUR TYPES/game equivelant save:
Leather/--
Mesh/6+
Flak/5+
Carapace/4+
Tannerite/3+ (made from aforementioned uber rocks . Only about a dozen in existance, and don't let that 3+ game equivelant fool you, it's nowhere near as good as power armour! Best protection someone on the planet could get though..)
Players/characters involved currently:
Cadet_Commissar_Ludd ~ Niall Seregath
Scrazza ~ Tor Virgil
gutseren ~ Gutseren Killith (DECEASED)
Thank you  .
For Niall's age.. might I suggest you give an actual number? About 24 at the minimum.. I mean, you're a conscript at the age of 12-18 or something like that.. so you'd have risen pretty quickly, even though there are regular Pirate and alien attacks.
I take it you used the generator to some extent then?
Also, I'm a bit dubious about that Plasma pistol.. as I said, they don't have las weapons and stuff like that.. I mean, obviously, it's possible for a weapon like that to get into the system, just incrediably unlikely..
I think you should change the special plasma pistol to a special autopistol.
Also, on the note of plasma stuff, as stated in my OP, the inhabitants of the planet use gases in the atmosphere unique to the planet (possibly..) as energy to power their cities, and use it as propellant and energy for their weapons. Their grenades, for example, explode outwards in a "wave" of pressurised gas or something like that, doing the same thing frag nades do in the 40k game. They do also have frags  . Other gas nades are actually used to gas enemies.
But other than that, their auto weapons are powered or whatever the term is (I'm no gun expert) to fire. Also, if this gas is released from a weapon, it just goes back into the atmosphere. Super natural recycling ftw!
So, basically, these weapons are no-no's:
Plasma
Laser (They could quite easily produce these types of weapons, and they use lasers for other things like surgery, but it is the preferance of the military to use autoweapons)
Flamethrowers (the equivelants instead fire poisonous/toxic/acidic etc gas)
Chain weapons
Power weapons, Power fists, Lightning claws etc etc
That's all I can be bothered to think of for now..
Anyway, anything else is  . NIkev, I know you're  obsessed  with Commissar Nikev and his nucians, but I'm afraid if you want to join this RP, you're going to have to just make up a new character.
Also, the PDF is split up into "cells". Each major city will have a garrison of roughly 500 + vehicles. Places such as farmland outposts, manufactorums, gas collection points, water collection/filtration sites, and the great mining facility's in the north are all also guarded quite heavily, especially with built-in anti-air/land turrets and gun points, with each of them being a small fortress like site; with steep high walls, gates and whatnot. They will have a garrison of about 25-50, with one or two vehicles for transportation/combat etc.
Anyway, the RP HAS NOT started yet, this is just a lil' taster for you:
They'd been allowed to land without a problem inside one of the major cities! What luck! Karl thought, Their AA must be all bust. He smiled, and looked around the corner - Two dozen PDF's were holding position behind cover. Karl looked back around to his men. "Ready?" he asked.
"Check."
"All lights are green, boss."
"Wait, argh.. my stubber's jammed.. just got..to.. there we go. Let's do this boss!"
Karl looked back around. There was a tall man, with a flowing cloak, long hair and a sword that looked roughly a metre long at his side. The man's voice boomed out, "Pirate! I have a proposition for you! You have no other choice, either way, you're surrounded by snipers already."
Karl cursed as he saw red crosshairs appear on all of his men, and himself.
"What is it that you propose?" he shouted back angrily.
"Fight me, in one-on-one combat. If you kill me, you may leave the planet. If I win, you will all die."
Karl stepped out. Gratifyingly, non of the PDFs opened fire. Karl drew his power sword - an antique weapon he'd stolen from a reliquary a few systems away. It crackled with powerful energy. The pirate roared and ran at his opponant. The Imperial brought his sword up in a wide arc, crashing into Karl's sword with unexpected force. What was even more unexpected was, that his opponants' weapon was not cleaved in two by the powersword, and that his blade was sent flying from his hand, and embedded in the ground several metres away. Catching him while he was off balance, the man kicked him in the stomach, sending him to the ground.
"No! Please! I'll do anything, no! No!" The pirate begged and whimpered at Dekko's feet, groveling on his knees. Dekko mearly spat in his face and denounced him as a traitor, before decapitating in one smooth swing of his Tannerithian sword. The corpse fell over. Four other pirates broke cover, yelling profanities at Dekko as they ran towards him. They were all dead before they'd taken three steps in his direction. The Supreme Commander merely smiled as four snipers displaced themselves from the shadows.
With Veteran squads, they're just normal Veterans.. nothing like "infiltration" or whatever.. they have nowhere to infiltrate.
And whoever is talking about being stationed on the planet - yes, your character is. There is nowhere else for them to be..
Niall stood up, his tall frame filling the doorway, grabbed the missive and slammed the door in the messenger's face, he got off lightly. On the paper were orders for him to take a squad and patrol downtown, there had been rumours of dissent. Niall then held his lighter to the orders, as was his custom.
Right, I'm being a bit of a detail nazi here, so apologies, but this agent of the imperium thing.. if an Inquisitor had visited the planet then they'd have been reported for withheld tithes and conscription etc, so perhaps we can just change your characters profile slightly to say about 40 years ago he was working with an Inquisitor, and afterwards, got lost in the warp for 38 years, and exited the warp and crashed on this planet?
On a side note, I also see no reason not to expand on this law-enforcement thing.. I know I said the military handles things like that, but they would have a special department I guess.. so IG that do the job of arbites.
Noone could be bothered to PM me for this event (properly), except for Ludd. Ah well, I'll write it up now anyway, as not to keep you all waiting.
"Right, so here's the plan: half of us, lead by Niall, will go around the back entrance. The rest of you will follow me through the front entrance" Roger explained.
"How dare you order me around?" Niall spat at the law-enforcer.
"This," he said, "is my job. So shutup and listen, Emperor damnit."
"Feth.." Tor muttered under his breath. He was beginning to really dislike this security-officer.
Roger looked over at him. "Do you have something to say, stripling? If so then say it!"
Tor just returned Roger's unfriendly look.
"Just shutup! We don't have time for infighting, and as much as I hate to say it, I think we should do Houstan's plan."
"Suffer not the works of heretics" Roger said, making the sign of the aquila over his chest.
"Indeed. Niall, take your best and go around the back."
"Virgil, Teth, Orca, Mic, you're with me. The rest of you, follow Houstan. Move out!" Niall ordered.
Niall and his five soldiers sprinted around the back of the building.
Roger turned to the five remaining veterans. "Any of you ever done this type of thing before?"
Noone answered.
"Call yourselves veterans.." he mumbled.
"Right, split - half on each side of the door!"
The unit obeyed. Roger took the point on the left. He racked his shotgun, and pulled a fragmentation grenade from his belt. He whispered, "three.. two.. one.. go!" He kicked open the door, and a hail of autogun fire whisked passed them, out of the door.
"Frag loose!" Roger shouted, and lobbed the grenade. There were sounds of commotion from inside, before an explosion and screams of pain.
"Go, go, go!"
Roger ran around the door, into the dimly lit room. A person ran at him, a blade in his hand, poised to strike, and screaming at him in a strange language clearly not native to the planet. Roger pulled the trigger, and the man was knocked to the floor by the impact of the shot, blood flooding from multiple wounds on his chest. The other five men had entered by now, and were cautiously looking around. There were four dead men on the floor now, all with weapons in their hands - knives, stub and auto weapons. They all wore long robes, with blue and yellow colouring, and a strange symbol on the robes.
"Cultists" Roger said, spitting on the corpse of the man he'd just killed.
Next door, we're going to rush 'em. I'll take point. We don't know what we're going to find in there, but from the looks of this building, it should be a hallway."
The men pressed up against the wall, and Roger ran at the door, shoulder first, smashing it open. "Go!"
-----
Niall raised his Kraken pistol. "Lets take this door down, people!"
They heard gunfire from around the other side of the hab block. "Virgil, here, now!"
Tor walked over to his sergeant. "Sir?"
"We're gonna barge this door open. On the count of three," the two men took a few steps back, "one, two, three!" they ran at the door, and crashed into it, swinging it wide open. The five men piled in, only to find noone in the room. "Lets move on."
-----
Roger instinctively rolled on the floor, bullets flying past his head, impacting on the soldier behind, killing him. Roger found cover behind a small table that was in the hallway, and he kicked it over, and sat behind it. Another man ran in, letting loose with his autogun as he did, joining Roger behind the table. The other four men ran in, bolters and autoguns firing. Another was shot down, and the other three found cover behind various plants, cabinets and other things. Looking around the table, Roger saw four more cultists further down the long hallway. dozens of doors were either side of the hallway, leading to apartments no doubt. The cultists were dug in, or atleast, as dug in as you can be in a hallway - tables, chairs, anything that could be turned up had been, to create a barricade they could hide behind. From behind him, a bolter sang out, the shells impacting on the makeshift barricade, the acid sizzling and slowly eating away at the furniture. From imbetween the cover, one of the cultists fired, the shots impacting on the veteran. Looking back, Roger saw half a dozen impact marks on the mans' flak armour, although one bullet had hit his arm, which was now bleeding. The man cried out in pain. "Bastards!" he shouted, as he slid back behind cover.
"God damnit we're pinned!" the veteran next to Roger said.
-----
Niall burst through the next door, into a long hallway - he saw cultists taking shelter further up, firing at what he presumed must be Houstan's position. Their backs were turned. "Fire!" Niall called, and he let a shot off with his pistol. It impacted on a cultist, who fell to the floor, his autogun firing wildly for a few seconds. Two cultists turned, but they were gunned down almost instantly.
The last one, a woman, ran at them, a dagger raised. Niall tackled her, pushing her to the floor. He was on top of her, and he twisted her wrist, forcing her to cry out in pain and drop the dagger. He punched him, to no avail. He picked her up by the scruff of her robe, and held her up against the wall. "Where are your leaders?" he snarled in her face. The woman spat in his face.
"Piece of gak!" he said, before punching her in the stomach, hard. She keeled over, and fought for breath. A single shot rung out, and the woman was dead.
Turning around, he saw the other half of the force emerge from cover, and they walked over to his position. "Status?" Niall asked Houston.
"Two dead, one injured."
"Damn it." Niall said, looking at the men he had left. "Joe and Karn were good soldiers.. we'll come back for the bodies later. Take their ammo, and lets go."
"What about that one?" Roger asked, pointing at the soldier with the arm wound.
"Teth, take him and get out of here - get to a medical station ASAP!"
The veteran named Teth nodded, before walking off with his wounded comrade the way they had came.
-----
"We still need to cover the upper level."
"This time, we stick together, Houston."
Roger nodded.
The seven men walked to the end of the hallway, where they found a staircase. They walked up it cautiously. There were no cultists in the next hallway, and so they advanced. "Check every room!" Roger ordered.
Most of the rooms were empty. They reached the last two. "Let's take this one first" Niall said, and barged into the room. There was a cultist, with a gun, standing over two young girls, a dead man at his feet. He shouted something that Niall couldn't understand. Raising his pistol, Niall fired, but the cultist had seen it coming and dodged the shot, grabbing the two girls, gripping them in his arm and dragging them over to where he stood. He put his pistol against their heads.
"We've got a hostage situation here!"
"Put the weapon down!" shouted the cultist.
Niall knelt down slowly, putting his Kraken pistol on the floor, whilst simultaneously drawing his stub pistol. The cultist became slightly less tense. Niall whipped the snub pistol up, several shots impacting on the cultists' gun arm. He wailed out in agony, clutching the bloody mess of his right hand. The two girls escaped from his grip and ran out of the door behind Niall, into the waiting arms of the soldiers.
Niall grabbed his Kraken, and aimed both pistols at the cultist.
"Raaakla, tu-kookmardoczon harkava taza Tzeentch!" the cultist screamed at Niall.
The sergeant fired, finishing the cultist off. Holstering his pistols underneath his greatcoat, Niall quickly grabbed his pen and notebook, and wrote down a rough approximation of what he'd heard the cultist say.
"Damned heretic tongues" Roger commented, walking into the room. "You'd best forget what you heard, Niall, lest you be corrupted from the path of the Emperor yourself."
"My faith is sure" Niall replied.
"Yes, for now, atleast" Roger said, before walking out.
Niall turned away from the scene of slaughter in the room. The other one had checked out clear.
-----
As the soldiers filed out of the hab-block, carrying their dead over to where Rad, the wounded veteran, was being treated with Teth at his side. A crowd had gathered around the hab-block, with several dozen soldiers keeping them back. As the crowd cheered and clapped, Niall could only wonder, was his faith unshakable? He banished these impure thoughts from him, reassuring himself that he was faithful. But at the back of his mind, something whispered to him, but he couldn't hear what was being said. He just ignored it the best he could, before getting aboard a chimera with the others to be debriefed at military command.
Noone could be bothered to PM me for this event (properly), except for Ludd. Ah well, I'll write it up now anyway, as not to keep you all waiting. ***EVENT*** "Right, so here's the plan: half of us, lead by Niall, will go around the back entrance. The rest of you will follow me through the front entrance" Roger explained. "How dare you order me around?" Niall spat at the law-enforcer. "This," he said, "is my job. So shutup and listen, Emperor damnit." "Feth.." Tor muttered under his breath. He was beginning to really dislike this security-officer. Roger looked over at him. "Do you have something to say, stripling? If so then say it!" Tor just returned Roger's unfriendly look. "Just shutup! We don't have time for infighting, and as much as I hate to say it, I think we should do Houstan's plan." "Suffer not the works of heretics" Roger said, making the sign of the aquila over his chest. "Indeed. Niall, take your best and go around the back." "Virgil, Teth, Orca, Mic, you're with me. The rest of you, follow Houstan. Move out!" Niall ordered. Niall and his five soldiers sprinted around the back of the building. Roger turned to the five remaining veterans. "Any of you ever done this type of thing before?" Noone answered. "Call yourselves veterans.." he mumbled. "Right, split - half on each side of the door!" The unit obeyed. Roger took the point on the left. He racked his shotgun, and pulled a fragmentation grenade from his belt. He whispered, "three.. two.. one.. go!" He kicked open the door, and a hail of autogun fire whisked passed them, out of the door. "Frag loose!" Roger shouted, and lobbed the grenade. There were sounds of commotion from inside, before an explosion and screams of pain. "Go, go, go!" Roger ran around the door, into the dimly lit room. (what now?)
You're welcome.
Now, you can RP a bit, interact with each other and do whatever until I make another EVENT, or PLAYER EVENT or whatever it is I feel like doing. That event was just for fun and to show you guys how it works on this RP.. kinda..
But in the future, everyone involved MUST PM me before I write it, because I won't write it until I'm pm'd. Anyway, I'll explain more next time we have an event. Or you can just ask Ghosty about this stuff, because he knows about it as well as I do.
Guys, just a tip on writing, try writing what the characters think like this:
Cadet_Commissar_Ludd wrote:Feth it, Niall thought, he wasn't going to sit at his desk all day pushing paper. He would carry out his commander's obvious intentions, keep an eye on that Houston fellow... Trooper Virgil can have a chance to prove himself at long last, the jumped-up child. He immediately set out for Virgil's billet, the next stage of his plan already formed in his mind.
Player event The communicator pad on the wall next to Tor's bed buzzed. He pressed a button on it. "Yes?" "Hey, Tor, it's Niall. Feel like hitting the pub?" Tor thought for a minute. "Yeah, I'd like that." "Alright, I'll meet you at the Devout Saint in ten minutes." "Bye." Tor switched the hab-communicator off.
He burst through the door to the poor troopers billet.
"What are you smoking Virgil?" his loud voice filled the billet, Niall smiled, that would scare the trooper.
You can't just walk into peoples apartments you know. :-)
Also, it seems we have a story contradiction. I suggest you two just meet at the pub then us this-that-'n'-the-other against Tor Virgil.
Remember, FIRST NAMES!
That's fine, what you've done. But next time, don't edit messages as it can get confusing. Also, I think you confused your tenses a bit.
