Ok so is the hit and run initiative test handled like a sweeping advance where the units roll against each other? or is it a straight up pass or fail roll to get away. Please site sources if possible, page 75 isn't that clear on the issue.

thanx,
GG

It is pretty clear - you test against your own I value, not opposed to anything.

Just a normal initiative test as per rule on Pg 8 of the BRB.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

Page 75 is clear mate, it's an Initiative test as per page 8, not a SA test!

Well it seemed clear to me that was the case, however my oponent just didn't want to believe that he failed an I test. And Page 75 wasn't good enough for him.

Actually the page 8 reference is a good help, would have been nice to have rememberd that.

Ah, that sucks! :(

Well, now you have somewhere to point him and are reassured in your correctness!

question -

if you hit a model with a thunderhammer (mawloc) that has hit and run, it tests on initative 1, correct? because the hammer knocked its initiative down to 1 until the next turn?

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

No, you have to Wound it, not just hit it. Otherwise you are correct.

Characteristic tests are affected by modifiers. It is only Sweeping Advance that uses the UNMODIFIED Initiative characteristic.

sorry, yes, I meant wound it as well (not hard, its a 2+).

I did this the other day, thought I was a clever little bastard, but my opponent wasn't sure it was legal.

Yup, it's legal. Don't forget too that Acid Blood + Lash Whips = Lots of Pain (notwithstanding the fact acid blood doesn't work RaW, but that's another story xD)

Only thing I see that might be what Gwar is talking about is it says the unit must take an Initiative test?

Ding Ding Ding!

The rules only cover MODELS taking tests, not Units. So either each model takes one (in which case 2 wounds against a Nid would cause 60 Initative tests on a squad of 30 ork boyz, which isn't supported by the rules at all) or nothing happens since no rules tell you what to do!

What would be the best common sense way to play it? That is how do you think it was intended?

You take a number of inititative tests equal to how many wounds were lost, seems to make sense.
