Hi guys.

as we all know, land raiders are extreemly limited in what they can physically have on their pintles. (two is just pitiful for such a massive tank)

anyway, I plan on cutting in two new holes just behind the track line (just behind the lights on the front.)

is this legal?

would you allow it.

The area specified would put the cupola above the tracks... underneath the plating the tracks go all the way around, there would be no way to man those pintle mounts...
It depends on what your planning on doing with those extra slots as to if it would be ok.

Just cutting more hatches to look cooler = ok
Cutting more hatches so you can place a multimelta further forward = not ok

well, it'd be for two krak missiles.
(i.e range wouldn't matter.)

well, it'd be for a krak missile, and maybe for an unmanned storm bolter.

then I could take chronus and a MM. :]

If it's for hunter killers you could put them almost anywhere and i wouldn't care, the old ones just came in a box you glued whever you found space, usually ontop of the tracks or the side of a turret.

Capt Solon, the easiest way to decide is this: Are you modelling for gaming advantage? If the answer is yes, then you just answered your own question, in that even though SOME people wouldn't have a problem with it, others can and will have issue with it.

If its just to make it look different, sure by all means.. "counts-as" is a wonderful thing, so long as by the rules, the thing is still a Crusader. After all, our little plastic/metal models are just abstractions for what the rules say they do. And so if you meddle with things for advantage, how is that fair for anyone else fielding a "normal" crusader?

I think if you have to ask the question you just got the answer

Solon, do you have nothing better to contribute than spam? You yourself have admitted that this is a bit silly. "I am modeling for advantage" pretty much says so.

It might be funny, if you actually contributed better posts on a consistent basis.

Che... this was a serious question, ACTUALLY.
I wanted to know if it was legal.

yes. I'm modelling for advantage, but I'm modelling to fufil something that I'm allowed to have.

Converting to Model WYSIWYG is fine. Feel free to cut those holes.

Modelling to advantage is building a grot unit with massive hands to block LoS to Boyz.

I agree with this. Dont start turning into one of those guys that build rhinos with GIANT plates in the middle of their rhinos, so when they move and pivot sideways, they block the entire army behind them. WYSIWYG is one thing, doing it so you can win is another.

So NOW ask yourself, am I converting this to pull off a WYSIWYG? Or am I modeling for advantage? If the answer is still yes to the latter, then ask a mod to lock this thread.

Hmm, to me it depends how obviously it's modeled for advantage. If it's mostly to look cool, that's probably fine, however if it's obviously designed to make the vehicle better for no extra points, that's not very good.

IE: I once saw one guy mount a punisher cannon on a huge periscope-like pole on top of the tank, about 3 inches further forward whan the gun normally is. The pole was about 6" tall, and leaning forward. He said he'd done it because it looked "Cool". One other guy had a baneblade where he'd doubled the length of the gun barrel, then measured from the end of the extended barrel... It's safe to say they weren't much liked!

This is Daemonic Cheese:

3000 Pts
2500 Pts
1000 Pts (And growing)

I'd put a quote here, but XKCD would have a better one.

I think this falls into the same category as the chaos rhino combi-burna (modelling the pintle-monted combi-flamer as a combi-burna so that it peaks over the side of the tank and can therefore legally be fired). As long as the modifications you're making are allowed in your codex, you're not modelling for advantage. It is an advantage, but if it is one listed as an option in the codex, as the HK Missile, Multi-Melta, and Chronus are, I see no reason that converting a model in order to take advantage of these upgrades could be anything other than legal.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

Solon, no matter how many different questions you ask about modelling, the answer remains the same: The rules do not cover conversions.

The only person who can say whether your opponent will object to your conversion is your opponent.
