This is my nephews army and he asked me to make him a list at 2000 pts. Everything you see here is everything he currently owns, save two trolls which he'll have this Saturday and probaly another 1000 pts of night goblins. Its not a bad list and I played him last week with something similar at 1500 pts. He beged me not to take the lore of life this time around with my WE's so I wont. He also really likes killy goblins for some reason, dont ask me why. anyways this list will face lizrdmen and WE's this Saturday so I did the best I could with what he has.

Lords:

Gorbad Ironclaw: 310 pts

Night Goblin Warboss: shield, Martog's best masha, Biggeds kickin boots, armor of destiny 153 pts

Heros:

Night Goblin Shaman: lvl 2, staff of sneaky stealin 135 pts

Night Goblin Shaman: lvl 2, power stone, dispell scroll 135 pts

Night Goblin big boss: Sword of Swift slaying, Guzzlas battle brew, dragonhelm, shield, light armor 84pts

Core:

29xnight goblins, full command, nets, spears 171 pts either boss goes here
29xnight goblins, full command, nets, spears 171 pts either boss goes here
20xnight goblins, full command, nets, 3xfanatics 190 pts both lvl 2's go here
10xgoblin spider riders, full command, shortbows, 170 pts

Special:

10xOrc boar boyz, full command, big uns(due to gorbads special rule), Nagg's banner of butchery 363pts

Rare:

3xtrolls 120 pts

Total points: 2002

The large block of boar boyz with that banner are sick, hell they killed a treemen outright on the charge in last weeks game. The night goblins will take awhile to whiter down with my WE's but I dont know how well he'll fair against the ratmen, although at least he wont have to worry about the storm banner but he will have to worry about the bell.Anyways tell me what you guys think. Ill post my WE list later, he's new so Im trying to take it easy on him.

you need to shave 2 points if its a 2000 point list.

Mmmmm, gobbos ftw!!!

I like the feel of the list, although not being an O&G player, I can't give any tips. Against magic-heavy lists in 8th edition, it'd be awesome to see a unit of orcs in there with the banner that gives them dispel dice equal to their rank bonus! Talk about shutting down enemy magic!!!

Gorbad's always a solid choice. I assume Gorbad is placed in the Boar Boyz to get a "Look Out Sir" bonus? Regardless, Ld 10 18" w/ BSB rule to boot (if downgraded to 6" when injured) is more than enough to hold the line together until combat (about a 91% success rate before re-rolls).

Night Goblin Warboss seems too fluffed up for my taste: It's durable (4+ save, 4+ Ward) and can hit hard for a Gobbo (WS6 S5 I6 A5), but it's still a 153 point character. It can work, however, since it'll probably be stuffed inside a unit. Just remember it'll work best as anti-Hero (and under) and not anti-Lord.

I don't think you can take both a Power Stone and Dispel Scroll any more, each of them counting as a single solid Arcane item. Drop one, 25pts freed up (well, since it's 2002 points, 23 freed up).

The Night Goblin Big Boss looks heavily fluffed up. Sword of Swift Slaying is less useful IMO as it's only a few armies you get the re-rolls for, and Ulag's Akrit Axe gives them towards everyone - plus +1 Strength the first round - for the same price. Going first isn't as big a deal since Goblin Characters tend not to be targeted in the first round, and if so they tend to drop however you try protecting them (in which case Brimstone Bauble is great as NG + Brimstone + LA + S = 59pt super-champion meant to blow up some tough enemies). Guzzla's isn't really necessary, if you take Ulag's you already get Perma-Hatred and Frenzy's only a 33% chance from the item. Ulag's and Helm seem like they'd be all that's really necessary, so another 10 points freed (that's 33 spare points ATM).

If you can, I would suggest dropping Spears for Hand Weapons. Saves about 58 points from both units. Also consolidate those Fanatics into multiple units.

The Spider Riders are much less useful now than they once were. Forest Strider and Obstacle Strider is all they have, and you ignore Dangerous Terrain anyways with standard Cavalry movement (You only take it during march, overrun, flee, and so on). Still decent unit, but not necessary. Command is also eating 30pts, dropping it (or at least the champion) frees up more points. Say the Champion is just a regular rider, for instance (you have no real need to worry about challenges with that unit barring charing someone dead-on when they have a character). 12 points saved.

Normally not much a fan of trolls, but with Gorbad they can become minor bricks (if they charge, first round they're only losing by three points initially and you should at least be able to manage a wound parity with vomit vs regeneration). If not necessary, would cut, but can be kept. Some decent anti-Chaos Knight models to boot (Only about 1" lower charge range, hello to 1-2 Vomited Knights and potential combat win)

The points freed by this stage should be about 103. This could be used for a few things now:

1) Fanatics. Two-to-four more could be bought, meaning you could fit two in every unit and still have 24 more points to add another eight Goblins to the 20-big unit (thus making all three units 30-big after characters).

2) Buff Night Goblin Units. 36, after characters, seems to be the magic number. Six-by-six means you can often keep steadfast, aren't giving any extra frontage to 25mm enemies either. Also about one-to-two static NG wounds as well, pre-characters. Mostly meant to be a big block while you either position someone to turn the tides (Trolls / second NG unit in the flank) or never let the enemy go for 163pts pre-Fanatics.

3) More Big Bosses. These would be used more as unit champion replacements (Drop 8 points / unit for 24 more points / 125 free points total, then buy three Big Bosses with about 35 points of wargear between them (not a lot, but enough for three Great-Weapon Big Bosses as an example).

This is, of course, assuming you can drop the spears. If you can't remove the spears, 45 points are free now. Enough to buy a 4th Fanatic and about five-to-six more Night Goblins, but that's about it for your options.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot: Don't put both Shamans in a single unit. Asking for a bad Animosity to cancel your magic for that phase. Putting them in two reduces the odds of successfully casting both in the same phase (83% in a single unit, 69-70% in multiple), but at the same time increases the odds of a single wizard being able to cast at once (83% for both in a single unit, about 97% for them split).

Thanks for the tips but all the gobbos have spears. also who cares about 2 points over?! This is a fun list not a tournament list. The list will play Lizzies, Empire, and Dark elves this Saturday.

Ill also have em place the casters in different group plus I'll recheck the rules with arcane items and what not when I get home to the brb.
