I'm throwing together a quick list for tomorrow's GW's 40k night, and I'm thinking of a fast moving pile of bodies.

The strategy is to have the tactical squads split up and combat squad, leaving behind 4 marines + the heavy weapon to either give heavy support fire, or run to an objective, with the sergeant and special weapon riding up in the rhinos. The rhinos will move flat out 18" with an assault squad and sanguinary priest behind each for cover saves. Dante and his crew of sanguinary guard and another sanguinary priest will deep strike using dante's rules and take out some armor if need be with 2 infernos pistols, then move on to carnage. The vindicator is a good psychological tool that can move 12" and fire, great for almost anything.

here's the list

HQ
Dante - 225

Elite
Sanguinary Priest x3 - 225
-jump packs

Troops
Sanguinary Guard - 250
-chapter banner, infernos pistol, power fist

Assault Squad - 235
-power fist, melta gun, melta gun, 10 marines

Assault Squad - 125
-power fist, 5 marines

Tactical Squad - 245
-power weapon, lascannon, melta gun, rhino

Tactical Squad - 235
-power weapon, lascannon, flamer, rhino

Heavy
Vindicator - 155
-siege shield

Overall looks pretty good. I can't say I love the idea of the Priests not attached to the squad, however. Cover saves are nice, but there's noting like being able to get rid of more expendable bodies before putting wounds on your IC. I know you won;t be able to take 2 meltaguns, but I'd suggest going with 9 man assault squads so the Sang. Priest can ride along. While you'll lose some range overall, remember that an Infernus pistol is 3 points less than an Assault Marine.

Props on taking tac squads in a BA list. Genuis way to field them. I see you having no problems with objective games.

1700 is sort of an odd points level, at least in my experience. 1750 is far more common. If you end up playing games at that level, see about giving the Tac squads some Razorbacks.

If my math is litte off your tactical squad should be 260 170+25+10+5+50= 260 and the flamer one is 255 i think you miss BA rhinos are 50 points and save the 10 points on the siege shield but then again where i play there is not a lot of train and off the points you listed i got 1695 but love the idea

eerm we're both wrong, the flamer squad comes to 245, and the other is 250

EDIT: Anyways, it all went horribly wrong. I played a tao player for the first time and had to trim the list down to 1200 on the spot to match his army.

Needless to say the symmetry of my army with multiple priests and whatnot went out the window, and they just got shot to gak after i deployed for a first turn rush, but he seized the initiative and it was an uphill battle from there, with plenty and plenty of crappy armor saves

finished off 6-7 kill points.

Basically for my list if you go first, drop either dread next to enemy, use locator beacon to guide ur assault marines and land raider in, hack the gak outa them
if you go second, keep everything in reserve andthen do the same thing.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
if you wanna take it to 1750 or similar, just add another DC dread in a pod, or a maxed unit of sanguinary guard, though personally, having seen my DC dread hack through 30 guardsmen in one assault phase, Id very much like to see my opponent's face if i field two

Automatically Appended Next Post:
like in all seriousness, there isnt much that is scarier than seeing 3 deep striking dreadnaughts and a deep stiking redeemer
that just scares the gak outa ur opponent

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Sorry dude but your 3 Dreads aren't scary at all. They're assault based Dreadnoughts so they'll come in and stand there - right in melta range - not good.

A deep striking Land Raider has a big foot print. You may not get everything around the Drop Pods if all comes in at once.

Also you've only got one scoring unit as well, objective games will be very hard for you.

S6 rending frag cannon won't do a lot against vehicles and infantry in the open should be in cover and as it's AP- still get a cover save and -1 on vehicles too, nice.

You need 50% cover to get a cover save which probably won't be available if you drop in a enemies face and you're only going to run 6" max, not like the enemy is going to be out of range hey.
