So, seeing those threads about how Dakka members are heading over to Warhammer World for a tournament made me realize that our British members think they can have all the fun! (and, dice rolls, can't forget those...) So, to ensure that we aren't the ones getting one-upped, I submit that perhaps we Dakka members in California attempt a similar event. Perhaps a friendly tournament, or just random games amongst dakkaites. I'm not exactly set on any particular location, as we'd need to check with potential invitees where and when they're available, but hopefully we can set some dates, pick a location, and get to gaming.

There is a large crowd that post here in the Santa Monica area and San Diego areas. And a fair sized group that is within 20 minutes of the bunker. Though guys like Janth would have trouble making it

Cali is almost to damn big but I'd still have to say the bunker.

It's looking like it'll be the bunker, as it seems to be the most centralized area, plus it'll need to have some space =P

That's a good question. I play CSM and Chaos Daemons for 40k. I suppose I could try to use my daemons for fantasy though. That is assuming of course that people don't mind them being on round bases.

I'd say 40k, but I don't see why we can't have both...

AGR in Riverside boosts grat gaming with helpful staff or GMI that place is abit bigger and is running WH40K and other table top games. I have yet to play GMI as my chaos marines are packed in storage after the move.

Game Empire in San Diego is pretty awesome. And we have really good players here.

The Bunker works too, I guess...but in San Diego you can go to the beach without dealing with awful smog!

AGR in Riverside used to be a great place to be. The staff is, on the whole, largely unhelpful, inflexible, and very inbred. If you're not a member of the 'in crowd' you will NEVER be accepted or be treated as an equal. Your events will be canceled without notice (happened to me 3 times), you will be denied a table if anything else is going on, and if you call there's a good chance you won't get any help seeing if something is in stock or not... They'll just guess.

GMI is run by a family. It's their whole life and they take it very seriously. They actively discourage inbred groups and encourage people to play with those they've never played with before. If there isn't a major event going on, they will make space for you. If you have an event it will be put on the calendar and they will promote it for you. They don't tolerate whining, bad sportsmanship, unprofessional behaviour, or disrespect. As a business owner they are the kind of people I want to work with. They are the kind of people I pray that I can work with because they're on top of everything.

You can also tell the quality of an organization by the loss percentages they have: Around 6% for AGR and less than 1% for GMI.

Some of that is true about AGR about game cancealation, and and the in-crowd but if you book a game in advance on the calender you get your table. I had games cancealed as well for big game events but that happens from time to time. I just try not to bash game stores because you may not be allowed back in if you do.

Here in Burbank we have a club that meets monthly, The Green Guard. We welcome anyone who wants to join us and this last saturday of the month we will be doing a free play/campaign starter day (free play for those who will not be in the campaign and those who are not doing anything yet). PM me for info (address etc) if you would like to stop by or just get the address, etc for later.

My main problem with them is that my group was the 'out' group and we had major events canceled several times without any notice. They just took us off the schedule because they didn't like us. That's something I have a problem with, especially since my friends and me gave all of our financial support to AGR. It was our home store and after several years of patronage we were just tossed out strictly on personality.

There is a group of us in the SF bay area that game rather regularly as well at Endgame, Oakland (great store!)--in case anyone is up this way. 6+ that I work with and a large number of store regulars that are all good people.

I sold my car years ago, so traveling too far is an issue for me, but I love to meet/play others from Dakka.

Ok, so as it is July 16th, I think we should settle on locations and a date.

I personally think the Bunker would be best, but then again, that's pure opinion. As for dates, maybe July 24-25.

However, some of us would like to play more than Warhammer, and for those looking for a game of Flames of War or Warmachine/Hordes, GMI also sounds good.

I think Im going to have to pass on this opportunity... While I will be at the bunker to say hi to everyone, Ive got league finals on the 24th, and starting another 2v2 8th edition league in the following weeks, along with a mighty empires campaign I have just joined >.< So needless to say Ill be at the bunker when ever the date is, just wont participate in the Dakka Tournies

That is of coarse if it even happens at the bunker.

I shall have to pass as well, the 24th is when we are starting Pathfinder.

Hey I've been looking for any one near Fort Irwin that could teach me the gamer I have purchased two predators a chaos term lord two space marine squads a term squad two rapter squads a squad of nurgle space marines an obliterator I purchased them while I was in Iraq and wanted a friend to teach me but never happend I'm almost finished painting all my models and color schem is a little of every thing like empirors children black legion deathguard so I really want to play and love the 40k stories so hit me up if your in the area so you can teach me lol
