If your caster has loremaster, does that mean the spells in that lore are completely open to everyone else (as in multiple slaans can have the same lore)?

Nothing indicates you get around the "no duplicate spells" restriction.

Spells that are not randomly generated ignore the duplicate rule.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.
No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

Ah, fair enough - I thought that only applied to "bought" spells e.g. necromancers.
however 2 Slaan in 1 army...gotta be running what, 3.5k to do that? Assuming you want the super Ld9 coldblooded BSB, and why wouldnt you....

Yup, thats what I thought, I was just clarifying. A friend was wanting to run 2 slaans and the skink special character thats lvl2 (also lore master... for heavens) and makes all doubles on roles for heaven spells irrisistable. So now we get to see 3 irrisistable big comets come down...

He only gets that for one turn however, doesnt he?
UNless one of the new Heavens lores does the whole doubles == irresistable thing...
The "big" comet gets seriously nasty, seriously quickly. Only ever 2D6 range, but starts at S5 and is at S7 (ignoring more armour saves) the next player turn...

Yes its one turn... but thats still 3 big comets.
Which actually start at S6 since its s4 + 2 counters every player turn...

Hmm, I read that as 2 counters are placed there, but it also talks about the first marker also being a counter (it conflates the two terms) hence starting S5..
Still, nasty. However at about 4k points games it better be!

It says its str4 +1 for each counter, and you put one counter down to start (for the normal comet mind you), so it would normally start at 5 yes, but the big comet starts at 6. This is how my store and group of gamers has interpreted it anyways. And this is actually something hes doing in a 3250... although its for a 2v2 league so its really 6500 per side >.< And I dont even know what his partnered Lizardmen player is bringing yet!

Stick a lore of light mage in there, or 2 - you will REALLY want the WS10 I10 saurus warriors with spears with double movement rate and ASF.....
However at 3250 that is some cheap Slaan lords - only getting what, 800 points to spend in total? I suppose one uber BSB floating about immune to non magic, all lore, MR2, free dice and one with slightly less gear in a TG unit?

You can take two Slaan with two disciplines each in a 2600 game.
I think the answer is clear that if you have "take all spells" on both slaan, you can both take the same lore.
Here's a question though - if one of them has the "take all spells" and the other doesn't, can both take lore of heavens? Iirc, the new rulebook says you get to pick the order your spellcasters generate spells. So you would pick for the one who doesn't get all the spells. Then the one who can't pick gets his?

I played a small tourny yesterday and my last match was a dude that was using lore of shadow and it was hella effective.
would hit chaos warriors with -T then hit them with 2 of the lil salamander things and kills waaaaay too many.
I got his slaan unit with an instagib infernal gateway on the 4rth turn, i'm pretty sure thats the only reason i won was that one lucky roll.

Actually Shivan, Im playing Orcs with a High Elves as my partner (its quite funny, we are the only team using the desperate allies rules >.< and theres only 2 teams that are not the same army ) But most people are actually worried about us shutting down their magic phase... as it stands we are taking two of their power dice and gaining five dispel dice... thats on top of the original roll and not including channeling

The big problem with this rule is going to be vamps. They can now take 4-5 instances of the same lore if they try hard enough. Scary.

Regardless, they have a random amount of power dice, and armies can now very easily have an equal or more amount of dispel dice. Just like my friend whos planning the 2 Slann/Skink character... What if he rolls low for magic? Then hes not going to get many spells off, cause unless he gets lucky and gets doubles on 2-3 dice, he doesnt have much to work with.
