Im playing in a large game soon and I am running a Stompa- thing is I have no idea what to expect. I know the rules about dishing out damage with it but in regards to other people destroying it, I'm none the wiser. How does damage against super heavies get resolved?

Another point is that the game is 6000pts a side and the Stompa will probably be the only super heavy- how should this affect the way the game plays?

Cheers.

it's gonna get targeted and will have almost no chance of getting to turn 3 (unless your enemy likes melee) in such a big game, keep all your boyz away from it because it's gonna blow! use it to take out anything you would have a hard time dealing with like Land Raiders and for gods sake, so many people make it go forwards straight away a fast as possible and they get hit by Imperial Guard Melta Veterans and Eldar Fire Dragons, every anti-tank unit will be eying the thing, trying to get under the shields and bust it up but you can attack from range, sure, you can kill plenty of stuff in Melee but any unit that will get close enough for Melee will probably be able to dish out some serious hurt to it

it's the perfect opportunity to take care of everthing that would otherwise be extremely effective against your army list

sorry if I'm being kind of vague, but I don't know what you lot are using

oh, even though you think you'll have the only Super Heavy Vehicle or Gargantuan Creature I'll bet someone will bring one along or ask a friend

Use the Super Gatler as soon as possible! I have One(or actually the Wife does, they are her Orks I just play them when she is not) and that thing is an absolute beast.

She once killed over 75% of my Guard with the Super-Gatler in one turn of Shooting before the ammo ran dry.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Also, don't forget about that Super-Heavy storage capacity, which can hold Meganobz, Bikes, or even Trukks inside. Another great trick is to keep a KFF Big Mek inside your Stompa, resulting in the radius of the force field being measured from the sides of a super-heavy vehicle, which can cover a lot of ground. It's a gamble to keep many units near such a volatile unit, true, but it's more fun to create a massive invulnerable spearhead, and fun is what Apoc is all about, right?

Bear in mind that I'm a very casual player, and any advice I give will reflect that tendency.
Garnet Host/Space Roaches >4000pts.

It really depends on the ppoints and what the other players are bringing. I brought my Hellhammer to a 40,000 point game and flank marched it on turn 2. It took out 2 Tact squads, a bike squad, 1 Pred and a Rhino.

The otherside proceded to fire everything at it. Nothing damaged it until the Immobilized Pred that could only target it with one Lascannon fired. Got a pen, and rolled 3 6's on the damage chart destorying it with one shot. Still, once you combine the units it destroyed, plus the unit's targeting it and positioning to get a shot at it rather than softer targets it more than made up for it's points.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

I didn't notice this, well, while I'll have to say you need an Apocalyse book for the whole rules, I'll give this away
it uses almost the exact same damage table as normal vehicles except a score of 6 lets the enemy get an extra roll on top of that , taking down Structure Points like wounds. but you get Power Fields that take a lot of enemy attacks as long as they're firing 12" away or more, the enemy has to take these down one by one and it can be an incredible hassle

and for some reason the fields protect you from CC attack from over 12" away

That would be incredibly handy if you could do close combat attacks from 12 inches away. But they also protect you from shooting attacks.
