I recently got ahold of 2 of the new Eldar Fire Prisms and I always admired that translucent light prism look people always painted on the old Fire Prisms. How do you guys do it so the crystals look like crystals with light effects to match?

It it just standard dry-brush with a lot of warm colors or is there some trick? I'd really appreciate any help.

I'm hoping to aim for a warm yellow-blood red-orange crystal look like in this photo but with a little smoother blended look.:

The rarefied atmosphere

if you want a solid colour here's my 2 cents. When I was painting armorcast crystal terrain I painted them a bright green then used green wash and worked quite well, quick easy. You could then modify and highlight on the washed base.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
