What brought this up is I was looking at the entry for Acid Blood in the Nid dex and noticed that it says the enemy unit must take an initiative test or suffer a wound. Now the rules for characteristic test only explain how to deal with tests on individual models, not units. So how do handle this with a unit with different initiative values? Do you use the same majority rules that you do with units with different toughness values?

The only time something similar is mentioned is for Sweeping Advance, which is not a Characteristic test so cannot be applied here.

True true, I guess the real question should of been "How do you play it so the game doesn't implode?"

I play it by the rules, so the game implodes!

That must play hell with your models...or computer screen if doing so in Vassal
Let me try one more approach...
If you were going to issue a rules change/clarification for your FAQ on it, how would you handle it?

Very helpful, Gwar.
I would play it as per the majority, since that seems to be the trend for mixed characteristics (Sweeping Advance, mixed Toughness, etc) this edition.

We make the checks at the Initiative that the wound was dealt at, which can then be allocated normally.

I like both solutions, but I think I agree with Insaniak for the same reason he posted, consistancy.

Why thank you!
I do my best.
I agree though that the easiest house rule would be to just use the majority. Ragnar having Lightning Reflexes isn't gonna stop some Poor Blood Claw get a faceful of acid.

In fact, Ragnar's reflexes are probably the reason it was a poor Blood Claw that got the acid in his face in the first place.

Addendum question :
Do Models striking with Powerfists/Thunderhammers count as having an Init of 1 until the end of the turn? I know for sweeping advances you have to use their baseline stat, but are modified stats used for characteristic tests?
If that's the case that makes it much easier to wound TH/SS terminators just by throwing a meatbag tervigon in their faces. I know they'll get their 3++ save, but every little bit helps right?

No, only their attacks make them strike at Init 1, nothing else.
What you want is something with lash whips in there as well...

What about Dante's hit and Run? Do you test with his Int, or the Squad which would be majority.?

The answer is as above: RAW, the game breaks, so use the majority initiative as everything else this version seems to use majority., highest in case of a tie.
