I have been interested in WH40k for awhile, but not until recently
have I been able to afford really giving it a shot.
Here's my 1000 point Eldar Hybrid force. C&C much appreciated

HQ:
(130) Farseer- Doom, Fortune, Stones
(104) 3 Warlocks- 1 Spiritseer, 1 Spear, Enhance, Embolden

Troops:
(152) 10 Dire Avengers- Exarch, 2 Catapults, Bladestorm
(130) Wave Serpent- EML, Stones
(152) 10 Dire Avengers- Exarch, 2 Catapults, Bladestorm
(130) Wave Serpent- EML, Stones

Heavy Support:
(100) Wrathlord- Wraithsword, 2 Flamers
(100) Wrathlord- Wraithsword, 2 Flamers

Total Points: 998

My plan is for the Wraithlords and Seer Council to advance up the center,
having the Wraithlords shield the Seer Council, and for the wave serpents to
speed up each side of the center footslogging block.

This is good in theory not sure how it would actually play though.

The thing I see first off is the small seer council will get gunned down from range since aside from 2 EMLs your long range fire power really isn’t there

I have played hybrid Eldar quite successfully at 1000pts I tend to put a 10 man Guardian Defender squad including a Warlock with Spirit seer and Embolden in cover and use a Wraith lord with BL, EML and two flame throwers to baby sit them

This combo is nice because Wraith lord deals with armor at 36in+ and I give guardians a scatter laser to soften up any infantry that gets close enough

This set up helps lessen the weaknesses of both guardian and a wraith lord.
Want to assault the Guardians? The wraith lord moves up and acts as a road block
And the warlock makes it so you don’t have to worry about Wraith sight the scatter laser the guardians carry also can help keep the wraith lord from being tar pitted if used correctly

My personal 1k point hybrid list uses this Guardian Wraith lord pair and then a squad of 3 War walkers with Scatter lasers

Then I mix in the mech element with DAs in a serpent (sometimes storm guardians) and a Fire prism

Many people underestimate the shooting power of this build with the 2 Anti-armor Wraith lord shot coupled with the 28 str6 shots from the war walkers and guardians your castle is quite shooty

Then the Fire prism and serpent scoot out to pound any isolated targets or can focus fire to bring down anything that might threaten your more static elements

This has been the best way I’ve found to work Hybrid Eldar at this point level

Right behind you. No, really.

i agree... looks good in theory but might have trouble with land raider lists and things like that. AV14 might be a problem for you. fire prisms would help.

Hrmm... I think they don't match up properly at this level.

You won't have problems with AV 14, though those wraithlords and council are a liability. I would either ditch the serpents for another wraithlord, and the avatar... or drop the wraithlords and warlocks for two fire prisms. Good luck either way, those may not make it the most efficient eldar list, though it would round up this list. Hybrid doesn't work too well at 1,000. I prefer the 1,500~1,750 for hybrid.

I know that a Wraithlord with EML/BL is a great anti-armour unit. I'm just to in love with a Wraithlord grasping a massive
sword in his hand, perhaps BL/sword?

I would have gone with something cheaper than Dire Avengers in a Wave Serpent - perhaps a couple
Guardian Jetbike squads of 3-6 with a Warlock, but I like the idea of having my scoring units being able to really slaughter
some stuff, instead of just filling a spot like Guardians, being relatively static like Rangers, or being fast and weak like Jetbikes.
The Avengers just seem like the most mobile, most versatile Troop.

And I feel like an Avatar or yet ANOTHER Wraithlord at this points level is cheesy..

A small Seer Council is not going to work and Wraith Lords are too slow to be able to keep up with the Serpents.
The army lacks synergy and it has too less anti-tank.

Well I do think its better

Im afraid for your warlocks lives when you run into a psychic hood, this will make fortune harder to pull off since most are on Ld 10 characters and without fortune the T3 4+ save is quite lacking, I know I would hate losing 6, 25+pt warlocks all in one turn

I like these Wraith lords much better though, and your DA squad is a solid troop choice

Pathfinder upgrade on the rangers would be nice but I understand it might no be possible with the point limitation

1. That shouldn't be too much of a problem at the 1,000 point level, the psychic hood should be either easy to avoid, or easy to kill.

2. Drop a destructor and upgrade them into five rangers with pathfinders. Destructor as a single won't get much done, though if I EVER take rangers, I am sure to make them pathfinders.

Well its getting better every time

Only thing I notice is that the 4 singing spears will cost you 4 attacks in close combat on account of them being 2h weapons

That being said im not sure what your battlefield role for them is if its fleeting into CC then the spears are holding you back also if the Wraithlords are next to the council I dont know who would drive a tank within 12in (baring objectives and such)

But with the 12 odd points could get you a Shrunken cannon for your serpent which is the way I tend to run my serpents since the EML template can be fired as a defensive weapon with the cannons str6 shots being the primary weapon

But thats a matter of personal preference its a really minor tweak

Hmm.. Yeah now that I think it over I really would rather my seer council has more attacks in CC.. and I think you're right I don't think anyone is going to be driving tanks into that seer council/dual wraithlord mess anytime soon.

I think I'll drop the spears for a shuriken cannon on the tank. Thanks for the advice.

BTW my main opponents are going to be Space Marines, Chaos Marines, and Tyranids, do you think this list will deliver?

Yes just make sure to leverage the Wraithlords and you'll be fine

#1 Just focus on de-meching opponent early

2# keeping CC units away from your pathfinders
And only targeting isolated units with the DAs or units your sure won’t be able to assault the DA on their turn This will help in objective games by keeping your troops up till endgame

#3 leverage the T8 on the lords make your opponents deal with them, and always make sure they have to deal with both of them together

Just my 2cents

Another idea is Mind War in place of Doom, its just an idea but since Wraithlord have Str10 and Witch blades wound on a 2+ you’ll only be re-rolling 1's and you will quickly find out that a Power fist eats wraithlords and being able to mind war the Sergeant or Aspiring Champion or even Carnifex will help a lot

P.S. this is just an idea and will require play testing to find whether you like Doom or Mind War because ultimately its about what you like and can make work on the table in your playing environment

I've been using jetbikes quite a bit recently, and I like them alot. I usually run

6 Bikes + warlock- 2 shuri cannons, spear, destructor for 210 points.

They are quite fast, and still clock in as being cheaper than avengers + a wave serpent. The squad is also very versatile against both armor and infantry. 8 tl s4 shots, 6 s6 shots, and a heavy flamer put the hurt on most infantry, while 6 s6 shots and an s9 hit from the spear is a nightmare for rear amor, which bikes have a knack for finding with their excellent speed. So I wouldn't under estimate biker fire power- especially in lower point games where their ability to do decent damage to all targets, and being fast enough to keep up with mechanized elements really comes into play. Don't forget that jump shoot jump allows them to effectively have the same range as dire avengers, as well as having higher toughness and better armor save! So i'd say try a squad out

Xom finds this thread hilarious!
