So it finally happened...the necromunda virus finally took hold in my local gaming club! And unfortunately for my Sabre Legion marines I have caught the bug bad

So some background on my gang... um..I have none.

Or at least not much.

I went with Orlock, mainly cause of their skill table selections and secondly due to their weapon selection which allow me use my Guard models (soooo cheap and lazy)

Ok so since I have no backstory (except for a vague idea about a rogue Orlock security team, strong I know) I'll skip straight to the pics!

You may wonder about the white stripe on the front of the base, they serve two purposes

1, so that I can write the model's name on it so that I can keep them straight.

2, They serve as a handy guide for the model's fire arc.

First up are my gangers, these guys are basically straight guard from my Malefis 666th regiment with additional weapons for WYSIWYG

This is Shrike, currently KIA due to 8 (8!!!) rolls on the serious wound table in one game. I plan to rename him when one of my juves moves up to ganger status.

Malfis, my only armorer at the moment and usually accompanies one of my heavies when they take the high ground.

Ferrol is another of my sergeants who has been pressed into service in D66 Squad

On to the Heavies!

Just one pic for these two, as they are basically identical.

Vaedon and Tusk are one of the reasons I took Orlock so that I could use these Kasrkins I converted for my Inquisitorial army.

and here come the Juve squad aka meatshields!

These guys were made on the cheap using a few torsos and heads traded from a friend, they unfortunately had several layers of paint on them so the juves are a wee bit rough.

Jarron here is my Fixer and carries a couple of knives from the skaven clanrat sprue as well as a pistol from the kroot sprue, I'm quite happy with his spinning around with knives in each hand pose.

Bosh is nothing special yet but its always fun to cave in skulls with a spiked club..or so I hear

Scalp is your bog standard Orlock juve except for having an extra attack from his XP table and I hope to arm with a nice chainsword when he gets promoted.

My newest acquisition

Put him together this weekend but am a bit gutted with the way his skull mask came out and i'm considering stripping the face and starting again.....

Wheres the Leader you ask?

My original Leader was a bit of an experiment, using a cut down marine torso on lengthened guard legs to try and give him a more imposing stature and while he was big enough he ended up being totally static and boring soooo....

Im still wondering if I want to use the laspistol I originally had on him or put his warhammer in a two handed grip. I'm not sure I will get enough movement in the torso to pull of a two handed grip but we will see.

And last of all is a heavy I put together for a friend, he is also using his guard for his gang and so he needed a soldier hefting a heavy stubber. I realise that it's the stubber from the Russ kit and is fairly large but I likes my big guns! and so does my freind as he has asked me to build two more heavies using catachans and heavy bolters for his new goliath gang so as i build them I will post pics.

Well there they are, a ton of pics and not much story but I hope to build more of a narrative as I get more games under my belt.

C&C is welcome as always guys , thanks for reading!

Cheers,

BLACKHAND

Thanks Scrazza, I've been wanting to get into munda for ages now and am really liking the mix of skirmish and RPG.

Thought I would post up a couple of pics of where I thinking of taking the leader.

I was hoping to get a more dynamic pose with him leaping forward with the hammer in both hands but it just came out in a captain morgan pose so I may have to roll with it, at least the base gives it a bit of flavor .

Great! you started Necromunda Blackhand!

Nice work on these guys, With the leader i think you should add some armor below the waist of this guy (he looks a bit silly).

good luck.

Nice work blackhand... really cool gang you got there. The juves are nicely done... I especially like bosh's laspistol with the chainsword grip... have to steal that idea

I agree with Ultra mortalitas ... the leader need some leg armor... maybe add some armorplates from the kroot sprue if you can get a hold of some

I'll be watching you ^^

Thanks guys

I get what you mean about bulking up the legs to match the torso but I'm not sure about adding too much armour with the whole WYSIWYG thing.

What do you think about kneepads and shin guards?

I wouldn't take WYSIWYG to much into account when reguarding armor... depends on your gaming group. We normaly just model our minis so they look good. Armor can be looked up in the roster. Or you can paint color markings on the bases for the different types of armor.

For kneepads I recomend kroot shoulder pads... void suit style. Plus one or two of those square armor pieces hanging from the belt.
And YES I think kroot sprues are great for upgrading anything

Kinda like this?

And yeah, love the kroot sprue!

I am a bit wary of adding plates to the waist as I plan on hanging a laspistol on his belt, but from the side the leg is still pretty narrow so I will probably build a GS thigh plate when this lot is dry.

I have also straightened the arm holding the hammer to add the illusion of weight, man I hope I pull a power maul from the rare trade chart at some point

Nice 'munda Blackhand, they all look very characterful.

Tell your friend to buy Gunnery Sergeant Harker for his Goliaths, too cool to pass up surely!!

Cheers Vitruvian, I may not have plogged the gang if not for your prodding on my Sabre Legion plog

I suggested Harkerto my friend but we are both pretty strapped for cash when it comes to models hence using bitz left over from our guard to build our models.. he is fricken cool looking tho....

Yeah the shin guards and kneepads look like a good idea, but the 'skirt' right under the chest piece is the main problem i have with the leader model, and the chest piece looks a little to round, curved and bulky. I imagine if it was half as thick and not round i can imagine it looking fine.

But its not my place what to tell you what to do, seeing the exaggerated size of the heavy stubber i wouldn't take a 'it must look like this' stance on your gang. Its your models, do what you will.

Im going orlock as well (or a gang with the same rules and slightly similar look). So best of luck to you, I hope my brothers and people i know become interested in necromunda as well.

VERITAS NUMQUAM PERIT

You might try a Chaos Knight or Bretonnian / Empire Knight torso - as opposed to the SM.

It might fit better.

On the guy with the huge long gun you could always take the end of the barrel off to make it look a little more menacing and less ... well long frankly.

Otherwise very nice.

Looking god! The stubber looks a bit too long, but I love the leader, he has a very powerful pose.

A Squeaky Waaagh!!

Thanks for the responses guys,

On the heavy stubber, I can see what you mean about length and I will raise it with the guy I am building it for and see if he wants me to cut it down a bit.

About the leader's chest I want it to feel like he has scabbed a marine breastplate from a junk dealer at some point, kind of a status thing. I think the main thing to balance it will be to continue bulking up the legs.

Thanks again and keep it coming!

Cheers,

BLACKHAND

Heres the leader with thigh plates and straightened arm

and the GS strap for holding the lasgun on his back

needs a bit of cleaning up with a blade but I think I will actually be able to get some paint on him this weekend

C&C welcome

Cheers
