Hey,
I played a 1100 point pick up game yesterday against nids. We played annihilation and wound up with a draw over 5 turns. Here's what I ran. It was an interesting list, but not terribly effective in terms of shots or power. Against a MC or Vehicle heavy list, it might have fared better.
HQ
Farseer w/Singing Spear
Fortune, Mind War
RoWit
RoWard
Spirit Stones
HQ
Farseer w/Singing Spear
Fortune, Mind War
Spirit Stones
Troops
DA x5
DA x5
Elites
Wraithguard x5
Wraithgaurd x5
Heavy Support
Falcon Grav Tank
ELM, Pulse Cannon
Spirit Stones
Holo Fields
Falcon Grav Tank
ELM, Pulse Cannon
Spirit Stones
Holo Fields
It went alright. The two Falcons killed the enemy biovore squad in the first couple rounds of shooting, and the 1st wraithguard unit managed to hold out against some ambushing gene stealers the whole game after getting jumped.
I lost a falcon to a lot of hiveguard fire, but luckily the DA's inside werent eaten up.
This list would play a lot better in capture and control than it would in annihilation. Anyways, just posting it up for fun.

Well, looks semi-competitive to me.
Two minimum DA and WG units plus two Falcons seem not very scary.

Yea,
They aren't really. The Falcons wouldnt even see light of day if I could help it. This list wipes HQ's pretty easily though.
Low point lists trying to use big big monsters in low numbers would be countered pretty heavily thanks to no-limit instant death, 6 long range AP2 shots, and 2 Str 8 ELM shots. The missiles instead of brightlances add just a wee bit of anti-horde, but not really enough to matter.
Mind war can 1 shot some IC's easily if you are rolling lucky, but like Boon of Mutation, it's definately a luck skill. I killed a grand total of two gaunts with it in my game. Automatically Appended Next Post: The only reason the DA's are there is for scoring. I can tank shock with the Falcon with them in it and hopefully steal an objective later on.

Drop a farseer and take eldrad in one of the Falcons and keep them near each other. *poof* you have 2 tanks with 3 Twin Linked 48" s8 shot a piece. If you are taking falcon do not leave home without guide or Eldrad.
Mind War is rather lack luster and to get the shot off you are putting your farseer in serious danger.
Not sure what roll you were trying to fill with the Wraithguard, but if it's nasties popping then 5 Fire Dragons in a serpent will serve you much better. 5 Wraith on foot 175pts vs 5 Dragons in Serpent 180pts

If you were playing objectives you'd have problems, as 10 DA don't last very long if targeted. I would add more troops for security if you want a competitive list

It definately was not intended to be a competitive list.
Someone asked for a pickup game and I saw my over-priced and under-utilized wraithguard sitting about, so I figured I'd give them a go.
I just posted the list up because I'm coming closer and closer to becoming a Dakka addict.

Don't we all enjoy picking up our older models to give them a go? I know I do.
