I voted 2500, but I think the actual points value will most likely be 2999. This way you get a 3000 point army without the warmachine cheeze you get in a Grand Army

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause. |

I see no reason for it to change from 2250 like most tournies (at least the ones i play in) are now.

I think we will see a steady drift upwards as the standard size of units increases. With in a year, I see infantry running in blocks of 40-50 and cavalry running with 10-15. Also, it appears that magic does not scale with a points increase - meaning that wizards are most powerful at 2K and less powerful (proportionally) at 3K.

I doubt it'll be that drastic of a change. Maybe 2500 a most.

I can't speak for the rest of the country, but the SCGWL is going to adopt 2500 as the standard for our events. It makes for nice rounded numbers for the percentages and lets most armies cram a Lord, BSB, and two wizards in, which is really a standard setup. There are still some really dumb things that happen, like 10 great eagles, at all point levels, but 2500 seems to be the sweet spot.

I dont know why tournaments would change point levels too much either.. Seeing as the point values for units didnt change there isnt a need to alter anything. More points just means games take longer.. If some events do 3000 pts they'll very quickly find that allowing a grand army is a horrible idea (IE next years 'ard boyz).. 2x steam tank. 6x mortar, 6x cannon, 1 hellstrom = fun right?

2500 I'd say.
The reason for the increased point value is because of no slots, and you can take more units now, I think it would be a good idea, and who doesn't like more epic battles if it only takes another 15 minutes to go throuygh?

Local store is having a 2250pt tourney this weekend. We're having 3 2-1/2 hour rounds. I imagine if games are getting wrapped up in near 2 hours then we'll bump up to 2500.
I voted for 2500. Consensus seems to indicate that the game has been sped up.

Unless they're high elves, they should be limit 2 on the great eagles, anyway?
I voted for 2500. I see it as that or 2000, or even as an above poster said, 2999. I don't see the point of playing a 2250 battle now- the 2K line means nothing, so going a bit above it to make room for the extra points for a lord choice (the reason, imho, for 2250 in 7th edition) doesn't make sense now.
Looks like there's a consensus, which if it reflects gamers in general, will probably turn into reality!
