Me and my friend were playing a game today and one of my squads was in the middle of a bridge thats over a river. He said instead of shooting the men he would target the bridge? Can you even do that? If so what would happen to the guys on it? How would you roll for damage and all? thanks in advance

AFAIK there are no rules in the book to cover shooting non-building terrain; normally unless it is a building with AV value you can't target it.

Therefore, in friendly games if you want to allow this you would have to work out the rules for yourselves

no, you can't do it. yes, its a cool idea. It would be entirely house rules if you did it though.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Sounds like a Captain Idaus Move

I believe you can, it just needs an armor value, which should be discussed at the beginning of the game. If it was a metal bridge, I'd say maybe AV 12

There are rules for occupying buildings in the rulebook. There aren't rules for blowing up terrain in the manner you described, so anything of that nature would have to be a house rule. Of course, that sort of thing needs to be discussed before the game. That being said, rules of that nature can be fun and spice up the game.

Oddly enough, only when an enemy is embarked or a shot scatters over the building, as I recall.

yeah, there are rules for bunkers but they should specifically look different than ruins and other terrain. outside of that, only apocalypse has rules for destroying terrain (Strength D weapons do IIRC).

As everyone else has been pointing out in this thread, no, you can't.

It's common for people to add in house rules that allow you to, but there are no rules for attacking any terrain other than occupied Buildings.

Again, (just for the sake of clarity and ensuring everyone is on the same page) occupied Buildings can be attacked.

Note that this does only apply to Buildings, though, not to Ruins.

I'd also give it structure points say 1 per 4" of length for a metal/stone reinforced structure.

But that was one of the first posts on the thread. After reading the rest of the posts, I think it's safe to say that I'm wrong

Sounds like it could make some really fun house rules. Could even be made into some stratagems for planet strike games and city battles. Useful for defenses.

Ipso facto auto-hit.
