I suppose it's a bit trivial, but i find them to be one of the most interesting units in the game (and i love the models). I was just wondering if there's any info on where they originated, or which craftworld has the most abundance of them?

As far as I know, there's very little info on them. No Phoenix Lord either. The only thing I know about them is that they are named after tiny creatures which inhabit the Webway.

Haha; to go even more off topic the buggers are incredibly annoying in dowii (if anyone plays it)...unless they're yours

I used to play Eldar, and I do say, in the tabletop and DOW 2 they are annoying buggers.

They are indeed.
Wish they had a Phoenix Lord though, that would be cool.

They originated around 2nd ed, and are a 'personification' of the repair spirits of the webway (those little spiders).
They are younger than the 5 core aspects (Avengers, Scorpions, Dragons, Banshees and Reapers) like their fellow 2nd ed creation, the shining spears by a couple of years.
There possibly IS a phoenix lord for them - it's just that no-one knows who it was because they were 'lost' and the armour hasn't been recovered yet.

Warp spiders are supremely annoying when you have to go against them.

Goto wrote something about a Warp Spider Phoenix Lord in his Prophecy novel.
But then again in the same novel Guardians try to block Warp Spiders ... and succeed!
Shortly after that, I swore to never again read anything by Goto. He hates Eldar and has no clue abut their background.

Good advice, that.
And I really do hope that, with the next Eldar Codex, we get a Phoenix Lord for Warp Spiders AND Shining Spears!

Second ed warp spiders were cool, template weapons of monofilament web Oh Yeah! Now they're nerfed down to some annoying little lasgun equivalent.
I can't find my eldar codex at the moment so my brain is fuzzy on the particulars but I only find spiders or swooping chickens for that matter fit for distracting an opponent while the real aspect warriors get gak done. Could be useful for a late game objective grab but they would have to stay ALIVE that long and I've never bet on that.

yeah you don't have the codex with you.
lots of strength 6 ap - . like LOTS. So rear armour 10 is always a target. They have a 3+Armour save which is good. But they rely on mass fire to take things out. my death company dread drop podding in usually gaks something in the 2nd turn but then his rear armour leaves him toast for the spiders, and they'll be able to get from his deployment zone to where they're needed very fast, or from deep strike location and back quick too. Just an annoying unit in the hands of a skilled player.

They are great light armour killers (vehicles - light transports in particular) and a full squad can dish the hurt on even marines. Lesser troops with weaker armour feel the pain more though. S6 hurts most things.
Plus their weapons ARE ASSAULT, NOT rapid-fire so dakka+assault can be used to soften up and finish off.
And they get to jump back out of range in the assault phase (if they do not assault) or can have hit and run (with I6) on the exarch if you give him the upgrade.
