Against which army do you prefer to take Defiler? And what is your best tactica for it?

Chaos Marines. Double CCW for assault, blowing up small tanks and big groups of infantry.

Oh, and soul grinders are the daemons version, not defilers.

I use on in every list i build. personally i run it with the reaper autocannon for two reasons.

1- the first weapon to be taken off of the defiler is ALWAYS the battle cannon, by having the reaper on it you are still able to shoot light transports if the BC is gone.
2- if it gets immobilized the reaper has another arc of fire that can hit things that the BC can't.

and obviously if both points happen then you still have something to shoot!!! I've also found it very useful to have as a second option in the shooting phase. I may get some sh&* for using it instead of the BC on this forum, but idc.

In the case of what i use it against, well like i said before, I use one all the time. 2 oblits, 1 Las/auto pred, and the above defiler. fills out the HS slots relatively cheaply, and creates alot of hurt.

REPENT for tommorrow you DIE!!!!

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Wait... I don't get the question. The Defiler can only be used with Chaos Space Marines...

Anyway, as for 'best tactica' there really is none. It's somewhat a 'fun' unit and can be competitive. I generally like putting it into reserve due to its fragile nature.

You just have to be flexible minded in using due to its identity crisis.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I usually run 2 of them when I can with Full CCW.

To use them, walk them up 6" a turn (unless they would be getting in range of something that could kill them) and shoot the battle cannon until you are close enough to fleet and assault.

However 3 main points:
1) They are scary to your opponent. He will shoot at it. A lot. Either give him scarier things to shoot at, or make the Defiler the pincusion while the rest of your army slips by unharmed. At 150 points they dont leave a mark on you when they die.
2) When getting into combat, try to stay away from power fists and equivelents. Juisy 10 man Marine squads with a power weapon is what Defilers love best. However running into a simple 2 attack Marine Sgt isn't the end of the world, you will probably survive. But you MAY not so keep an eye out for alternative targets.
3) Dont shoot at stupid things. I have seen rookie players so scared of an enemy's terminators that he would have his 2 defilers sit there and shoot at them all game. anything with a 2+ Save, YOU DONT SHOOT AT! PERIOD!

Hope this helped

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.
