Just aquired a BW with Deffrolla spru. How should I assemble it? I've seen some with the rolla raised. I'm not too familiar with why.
Care to clue me in?
Is it because the DR doesnt count as hull and it makes it easier to determine range for enemy assault?

Some people don't glue the rolla to the BW, so they can remove it. But presuming you are playing the BW as having a rolla, I think it may as well be positioned down - I don't see any advantage to it being in the up position, and trying to change it mid-game will just make oppnents grumpy.

I didn't glue mine in (it's easier for tranpsorting it), but I leave it up whenever I play. You are correct about the hull thing, kinda. Some people will argue that it is, others that it is not, so I put mine in the up position to avoid the hassle. It makes it impossible to have a turret on top of the wagon (unless you're using the big one over the back bay area), but I only have a big shoota on it anyway, so it just fires out one of the back side ports. Also, the other reason for modeling it up is for your assault purposes. If you have your battlewagon open-topped, you can assault out of it even if you move. If the deffrolla doesn't count as hull (which it really shouldn't IMHO), then you can't disembark out of the front because you will be outside of 2" of the hull. Before people start crying about 'modeling for advantage', I would like to point out that the ram range of the battlewagon is reduced by about 2" or so if the rolla is up because you determine rams/tank shocks from point of contact with the vehicle.
So, to sum up. Modelling the deffrolla up:
Pros: You can assault out of the front of your open topped battlewagon, no arguments about hull/not hull
Cons: No turret above wagon, ramming/tank shocking range reduced range reduced
Hope that helps!

I have one, and there are 2 things I did. First off, I magnetized both sides of the BW so I can swap from the ram to the rolla easily. Second, centered in the bottom of the deffrolla, I drilled out a 1/8th inch hole with and put in a small 1/th diameter styreme tube peg so that the deffolla looks better aesthetically and the paint doesn't chip off on the bottom. The peg is tall enough to keep the rolla off the table, but short enough you cannot see it.
Gameplay wise, Zatchmo has it covered already. On a side note, is there anything official or semi official the indicates whether the Deffrolla is or is not hull? My opinion is no, but would be nice to see it enshrined in fact.

This. The only time it's "modelling for advantage" is if you started your move at the tip of the rolla and ended your move at the front of wagon or moved the full 12" and your Boyz jumped out 2" from the rolla, giving you an extra four inches or so. If you measure consistently from the tip of the rolla for starting and ending movements and for deployment purposes, counting the deff rolla as hull is a disadvantage since it shrinks your AV14 front arc slightly and gives your opponents a longer target to shoot.

Yeah, this. I don't glue my vindicator blades on, because I like using my vindicator as a rhino
cut the bottom of the plow away, and model deff rolla there.
tucked inside,
should cure all probs and looks cool.
Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men. Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.
