Playing a game tonight with three main objectives across the board to hold. I've got the firepower to get them off the objectives (space marines), but lack the staying power to put up with all of his assaulting crazyness. What are some good squads or combination of squads that lend for staying power with IG?

I've got 2 squads of plasma vets in chimeras, and was going to camp one on each with a leman russ vanilla behind it, and a hq in vendetta with up to two squads of stormtroopers backing up the hq squad. I've got a 3 squad platoon that I planned on sitting on one of the objectives, but I can only afford one of those.

I can either take another tank or something else. Any other ideas?

Two words: "blob squads"

A stubborn 50-man squad sitting in cover with "incoming!" isn't going anywhere. Bring one for each objective and he's going to be in a serious position when it comes to removing scorers/contesters.

The real problem you're going to have is contesting, which means lots of short-ranged firepower to nail him when he gets close, and also giving the blob power weapons so that he can't just sit in close combat on the objective immune to your shooting for the win.

The thing with vehicles is that with good firepower and speed, they are good at taking objectives. With everything being AV10 to powerfists and meltabombs and krak grenades, well, as you've noticed, they lack staying power.

That's what the infantry is for.

Yeah, stubborn comes from commissars. 35 points to make 50 guys take every single close combat morale check at a rerollable Ld9 is a STEAL. Plus, unlike fearless, you don't lose additional guys.

As for the models, just counts-as officers for the short term.

Really, what you're looking for is durability. Vehicles are only durable against long-ranged fire (which isn't what you're looking for in this case), and infantry are durable against all shooting, but they get swept off the board even faster in close combat than do tanks.

The only real solutions, then, are throwing more read-armor-AV10, or making the infantry not run away in close combat.

The answer to the latter is commissars. You can do other things to help leadership like planting a Lord Commissar nearby, or a regimental standard, or through taking a special character like Yarrik or Chenkov (who projects stubborn on everyone nearby), or to a lesser extent Bastonne. Otherwise, the only option is to take penal legions who get stubborn for free.

I love run mechanized company!

50 guy one squad is better but hmmmm not cool. Because they dont ride on Chimera!
I love Chimera a lot. Do you?

Anyway,Holding Objective is not so hard even mech-vets.

Use chimera. Mostly at Turn 3 or 4,Make remaining chimera full advance to enemy object! And make em contesting.

It depend on case,But I left vets behind on own objective.

Then win or draw mostly. I use 5 chimera on 1000pts.
