I'm revising my army list and Vanguard have caught my eye, mostly for the idea of fast moving stormshields. My question is that if Vanguard have a base attack of 2, if I give them storm shield do they retain that base attack of 2 or is that 2 from the bolt pistol and chain sword they start out with?

base attacks is base attacks; without the Storm shield they have 3 attacks(4 on the charge) for the 2 ccws.

The attacks on their profile are their base attacks.

Bonus attacks are only very rarely included in the profile, and when they are it is clearly spelled out.

So Vanguard with a SS have 2 attacks, those with a BP and CCW have 3.
