If you have multiple units in a combat do you add up all the ranks from all the units you have to see if you're steadfast, or do you just use the unit with the most ranks?

Unit with the most ranks.

There is a rule saying somewhere that you can only take the highest number of ranks in a single combat when determining things like that.

Wow that sucks. Kind of stupid if you have four units on the enemy, but he has more ranks than any one of yours. They really shouldn't have gotten rid of outnumbering.

They really shouldn't have done much of what they did. This'll really make you wonder: 10 Goblins can break ranks, but 5 Chaos Knights can't. I know which one I'm more afraid of...

They did it so infantry actually had a use in the game, as opposed to being a poor choice in almost all situations.

Given the game is supposed to simulate to some extent fantastical battles, having it be dominated by cavalry and monsters isnt good for the future of the game.
