I have been contemplating which army to collect next as a casual army. The necrons have interested me and I was wondering if there is any ways to kill enemy tanks with an army lacking anti-tank options
Thanks in advance for all replies

no anti tank here! all guass weapons auto glance on a penetration roll of 6. at the very least one glance it the thing doesnt shoot. If youre serious about destroying it, Tomb spyders are MC, Ctan is S10 MC, all warscythes get S+2d6 armor pen. and last but not least scarabs, turbo boosting 2+ cover saving little buggers can be given d fields to glance any armor and toughness on a to wound roll of 6. High Strength not required when your T3 S3 16 pt model can keep it from shooting, moving, immobilize or weapon destroy or glance to death. Its all in tactics, feeling a real need to take out a russ? veil of darkness a destroyer squad with S6 Heavy 3. or particle whip it from your lith 2d6 take the highest on a hole over, and it s ap1 under the hole

The problem is I am probably going to be facing a very shooty army so I mightn't be able to use some of the tactics mentioned in your reply.
Thanks for your reply

Destroyers.

Either normal ones for wieght of fire to easily pop transports, or the heavy flavor for some decent enough anti-tank.

Heavy destroyers will be your dedicated anti-tank probably. Almost too good to pass up depending on the list.

Necrons are bad at killing vehicles.

You have three options:

Fire whatever gauss weapons are in range and hope to glance it to death. This usually takes a while. If it's AV 10 Destroyers will kill it, but with a terrible waste of shooting.

Attempt to charge with a Lord w/ warscythe or a C'tan. C'tan are usually busy saving your army from being munched in melee and Lord are easily intercepted.

Hit it with a Particle Whip or Heavy Ds. Monoliths are short ranged and slow, but Heavy Ds are fragile, high priority targets that still aren't very good at AT work. They carry lascannons and despite move and fire nobody depends on lascannons to kill tanks anymore for a reason.

None of these really work that well.

Scarabs with Dfields can do a number on a stationary vehicle, but it has to be immobilized or your opponent stupid for that to happen and you are making your scarabs much more expensive than they need to be.

I have played against necrons alot usually a max squad of warriors rapid firing is enough to at least disable a vehicle strip it of its weapons and make it immobille

I'm sorry but you are sadly mistaken. Heavy Destroyers are pretty much in the top 2 worst possible choices in the entire necron codex.

65 points for a lascannon on a 1 Wound Model is just laughable.

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

Shame the stupid glancing rules changed...it used to be the polar opposite

Regular destroyers work (though they should be targeting infantry and light vehicles) and H Destoyers can kill AV 14 vehicle though as stated by a previous poster they are very very expensive...Tomb spyders could work if you get them close enough but i think a warscythe lord will work far more reliably as you can give him a D body or the veil (im a fan of the D body)...have your warriors fire at them if they are in range and have nothing else to fire at...

Really its a shame the gauss rule isnt what it used to be...good luck with starting an army of death, we are very very difficult to play right now but scuttlebutt round the barracks says we have a new codex in the works....and nightbringer Im looking forward to that!
