I saw it today, and it's not half bad. It is somewhat formulaic, but it executes the formula well. 7.5/10

So is does it end in a way that let's Disney line up a sequel if this one makes enough money? And what footnote intellectual property do you think they'll next try and turn into a mega moneymaker?

It's loosely based off "The Dresden Files" novels, which Cage is a huge fan of.

It has nothing really to do with Harry Potter or Dresden. The style is very much Dresden though.

I miss the Dresden Files. It was a victim of the writer's strike. Though the Sorcerer's Apprentice wasn't necessarily left open to a sequel, I'm sure they could come up with one if they wanted to.

The writer's strike was partially the problem. The other issue was that the production company wanted Jim Butcher to start incorporating the writers from the show into his novels.

He politely refused, they threatened him with legal recourse if he didn't budge. He didn't, they canned the show and are sitting on the rights to everything that's not related to a published medium.

Its got Nicolas Cage in it. I would rather watch my house burn down.
