I posted a 1750 point list a few weeks ago, which was quickly ripped apart by I-Bounty-Hunt-The-Elderly. Using his advice, i finally drew up a smaller, more points-efficient list.

The list is partially inspired by Ailaros' battle reports. The plan is to combine the infantry squads into two blobs, and add the priest to one of them. They're to assault or hold objectives, while my vets zip around in the chimera, burning enemies off of objectives and just generally being a nuisance, then the sentinels outflank and wreak havoc behind enemy lines. Meanwhile, the heavy support does what it does best: sits back and blows up the stuff too big for the infantry. Please comment and leave any suggestions for making this list better!

First of all, you might want to edit this list by putting spaces between units, currently it's rather hard to read.

I looked up your last list, and this definitely looks much better! Some issues though:

You can't have 4 GLs in the PCS - a vox carrier can't have a special weapon as well, it needs to be 3 GLs and a vox.

The CCS is over-equipped. No competent opponent is going to let you use that power fist, and you'll probably never get more than one shot per game with that plasma pistol, if that. Carapace is alright (if I were to buy a protection upgrade, I'd make it camo cloaks, because your CCS should always be claiming a cover save from infantry squads or area terrain) but bodyguards are a bit overpriced. I would cut this squad's upgrades down to regimental standard, vox, and 2 special weapons.

No meltas in the army. Meltaguns are the best way for guard to deal with heavy armour vehicles. Manticore can do the job too, but one AV12 vehicle isn't a great thing to rely on. I advise switching the veteran squad's flame weapons to meltas.

The veteran squad also doesn't need carapace armour. A short-ranged, mechanised squad depends on its vehicle for protection. If the vehicle gets blown up, they should have a crater or a wreck to hide in/behind anyway. Why the carapace? If they're ever in the open taking fire, it should be because they've jumped out of the chimera and melted something already, in which case you don't really need to pay to protect them. (also, their chimera doesn't really need a storm bolter, cut this if necessary)

Sentinel squadron, I prefer the same weapons in any squad. But no major problems. (if you paid for 4 GLs in that PCS, this would be a good place to spend them, by upgrading a multilaser to autocannon)

Heavy weapon squad - for the same price, an autocannon in always, always, better than a heavy bolter. I've seen this discussed again and again on this site, and literally everyone except Ailaros believes autocannons are a no-brainer choice over HBs. If you're not familiar with the argument, ask me why.

Heavy support is alright. Lascannon and HB upgrades on these tanks are a matter of taste, some people like'em some don't. I'd personally cut both for more troops, but if you do use them, choose one. A lascannon and HBs are complete opposites, so you can see how it's a bit odd to use both upgrades. Maybe one demolisher w/lascannon (high strength, low AP) and one LRBT with 3 HBs (for killing troops)? But as I said, I'd run them both naked, with hull HFs or HBs.

Finally, I think you could cram more infantry in by making those changes. For this kind of list, 2 platoons of 35 men seems like a good point to aim for, I'd say 20 men is a bit small, and larger squads would also magnify the effect of a priest. You could fit that many men in - save 70 points on leman russ upgrades, 40 on the veterans in chimera, 50 on the CCS.

Also, meltaguns might be better in the infantry squads. Consider: if your infantry blobs are in front, shielding the command squads, then any enemy can drive up in his transports and he'll have the initiative next turn, your squads can't really touch him unless your long-range support can destroy the transports. But if you have meltaguns, you become a lot mroe threatening.

Cut the priest if you absolutely have to, or his eviscerator. I can see he's a useful upgrade, but you need a certain number of bodies first.

Hope that helps. All this advice is to optimise your army, but I do think it's a very cool type of army to play, and you've got the basic plan in shape. Don't want to appear as some internet bogeyman who pops up to crush your dreams and force you to buy more models!
