I want each army to be fun to play and fun to play against. The games are intended to be friendly and semi-competitive, no 'Ard Boyz or anything like that. And I strive to be fluffy. Any and all C&C is greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Tyranids:
-I don't know if Id use a Tyrant at 1k, but I'm assuming the gargoyles are used as a screening unit for it?
-Carnifex is also pretty expensive. At the very least drop the crushing claws and get dual talons.
-Synapse may be a problem with a somewhat fragile tyrant (no tyrant guard or 2+ save), and Zoans (T4, 4W, 3+ save).
-Stealers are also pretty expensive, but atleast they dont need synapse.
Chaos:
-Terminators need 2 combi weapons for only 10 points. Take the power fist away if you have to, and I'd probably even drop the flamer for another combi.
-Chaos Dreadnought must take that multi melta off. Switch it for a missile launcher if you want some AT fire, otherwise give him dual CCWs.
-Chaos Marines should have 2x meltas. Mixing specials isn't a good idea.
-Personally at only 1k I would drop the oblits (easy kill points) for x4 autocannon havocs. They'll pop one transport a turn and offer some good anti infantry support as well. Should be small enough of a threat to not get killed.

On the nids list: I'm not sure I'd get Old Adversary as the hive tyrant already re-rolls all misse. I guess it does provide help in CC for the guants and others though. if you did drop it you could get another 3 gaunts in each squad (not sure how helpful that would be) or a stranglethorn cannon/heavy venom cannon. I'm only mentioning this because I'm not sure how large the table is, and the hive tyrant already re-rolls all misses (and 6" is fairly small on a regular sized table)

The Chaos and Nids lists do look better, I would just say:
-Give the Tyrant a Bonesword and Lash Whip (free swap out from a scything talon), unless you really think youre going to be chasing vehicles (Old Adversary does not help with vehicles), though remember you have 2 Zoans and 3 Hive Guard already.
I would ignore what the above poster said. Obliterators bring nothing to the table the rest of the army doesnt do well already (you have 7 meltas for close range, and 8 autocannon shots a turn at long range which is brutal against Transports, MCs and even horde). In no way is a far more fragile option (oblit) worth dropping a dreadnought and a perfect heavy weapon team for low point games.

I only say this because if he were to come across a horde army he might have trouble. I would drop the dreadnought as it could hurt your army when you need it to preform most. But if you like them thats your call. But i think you should get lash and maybe a dakka pred with the left over points from the dread if you do in fact have points for it.

If you wanna give the Eldar player a fighting chance with approximately the same models you have might I suggest...
Eldar-
-HQ:
(85) Farseer- Guide, Runes of Witnessing
-Troops:
(60) 5 Dire Avengers
(152) 10 Dire Avengers- Exarch w/ 2 Shuriken Catapults, Bladestorm
(120) Wave Serpent- EML (Dire Avengers)
(128) 10 Guardians- Scatter Laser, Warlock w/ Embolden, Singing Spear
-Heavy Support:
(130) Wraithlord- Bright Lance, EML
(120) 2 Warwalkers- 4 Scatter Lasers
(180) Falcon- EML, Holo-Field, Underslug S. Cannon (5 Man Dire Avenger, Farseer)
Total: 1000 on the dot
Premise to this list is the DA go in the Falcon to create a long range scoring gunboat. The farseer inside guides the Falcon for 3 TL 48" s8 shots and if shaken guide the nearby Wraithlord or Warwalkers.

After reviewing replys and much consideration.. I think these lists might be closer to what I am looking for.. They have a really cool variety of models for painting opportunities, and enough of a selection of models to entertain many tactical possibilities...

One problem with your CSM list. Your daemon prince is illegal. you for got to add the cost for tzeentch. That prince is probably about 185. So Id recommend going for a nurgle wings warptime prince for 10 points and drop the havoc launcher off the defiler and try to find 5 points somewhere or make sure your opponents dont mind being 5 pts over.

The chaos list is rock hard, and the 'nid list is plenty fine... but...
This list is baffling.
You have one transport full of anti-infantry, with a gunboat.
One walking MC with a single anti-tank gun.
Ten guardsmen equivalents with a heavy gun.
Farseer.
Fire prism.
Two tanks.
Three walkers with alot of shots... and stones... really. Stones?
Too much at once. Way too much.
Drop the guardians, and the wraithlord, and the stones on the walkers.
Purchase more dire avengers in a serpent, and a fire prism in lieu of the scatter walkers.
Bleh, just use this:
Farseer
Doom
10 Avengers
Exarch w/ Dual ShuriPults & Bladestorm
Wave Serpent
TL- EML, SC, Spirit Stones

I see your point Syphon.. perhaps I should use a different approach altogether..

(130) Farseer- Fortune, Doom, Stones
-Troops:
(172) 15 Storm Guardians- 2 Fusion Guns, Warlock w/ Enhance

-Heavy Support:
(120) Wraithlord- Scatter Laser, Wraithsword
(125) Fire Prism- Stones
(125) Fire Prism- Stones
Total: 999
or should i just go with the boring yet effective 5-grav-tank 2 dire avenger list..

Not sure but IRC, termagaunt units have to be equipped identically. And for the points . .fleshborers are made of win, dont see why anyone would want spike rifles or stranglewebs though (not that you've taken them) they make the unit worse and cost points!
Personally i would keep the genestealers as they can kill anything other than a landraider on the turn they arive especialy if they outflank (which they always should). I would also condisder dropping the tyrant and termaguants, making the tervigon the HQ, give it some biomorphs like adrenal glands for its babies, and if you have points left over take some warriors with boneswords and devourers
|
If the unit doesn't make a pile. . it wasn't worth taking. . . |
