Can a model take both a Relic Blade and a Storm Shield? i.e. Assault squad sargeant?

An Assault Squad Sergeant can't, because he cannot take a Relic Blade.

But a Model who could take a Blade and a SS (Such as a Vanguard Vet Sergeant), Sure he can take both. Why do you think he can't?

You used to not be able to take two double handed weapons. Could be some confusion regarding an older edition.

Even if it was, it wouldn't matter.

All 2H weapon means in this edition is no bonus attacks for extra CCWs.

The "hands" rules are out-of-date, since units no longer are restricted to a certain number of "hands" worth of weapons, only by their allowed options. A Chaos Lord, for example, can legally take a combi-melta, a plasma pistol, and a pair of lightning claws. The Emperor only knows why you would, but that's a different issue entirely...

Daemon hunters and Witch hunters would like to have a word with you.

Current Inquisitorial Codex's are 1 2-handed and 1 1-handed weapons, or 2 1-handed weapons, as apparently holstering thy holy weapons is an affront to the emperor.

Although that will soon change

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

I just wondered if he did would he not get the bonus from the SS for the same reason he can't get an extra attack from his pistol.

Specifically, storm shields are not a close combat weapon no matter what else a model is wielding.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Those are allowed options. Anyways, specific overrides general in GW-land so as codex-specific rules they override the more general lack of restriction.

Yes, a model with the option to take a relic blade and a storm shield may do so, they gain a 3+ inv save, and make CC attacks at strength 6, ignoring armour saves. However they may never gain the +1 attack for wielding two CC weapons, in fact doubly so, as both items prevent it.

You can take both for a model that allows it.

I actually just read a GW FAQ sheet about this not five minutes ago, it was the opinion of the FAQ sheets author that a relic blade + storm sheild made for cool looking models.

Certainly a relic blade & a stormshield looks awesome. I hate 3++ so I put as many into my new BA army as possible. It is fitting.

No attack bonus for using the SS I think he means.
