Since a search didn't come up with anything....
What would be a good scale for 40k vehicles? I know that GW is "28mm Heroic", but what does that scale into well? IE: 1:32, 1:48, 1:52 ect ect.
Thanks.

The miniatures community at large seems to be settling on 1\56 or 1\60. 1\48 also works pretty well.

1:60 is generally the right fit.

28mm is 1/56th scale.
However vehicle and airplane kits are available in 1/48 and 1/35.
IMO 1/35th is the best scale for vehicles and 1/48th is the best for aircraft.
See actual model size comparisons here...

Sorry guys, but 28mm (despite GW's convoluted heroic scale) would be 1/64. 28mm = 1.125 inches (rounding up to the nearest 1/8th of an inch). There are 72 inches in 6 feet, 72 divided by 1.125 (yes..I know actual is 1.102 but we are trying to get to the closest scale not create a new one) = 64. So 1/64 would be the actual scale 28mm is closest to.
However, that's not to say a 1/64 scale tank (even if you could find one) is going to scale properly if used in 40k. That's why most people use larger scale model kits of the 1/35th variety. Because SM are supposed to be like 8 or 9 feet tall which would mean they should be like 42mm tall in-game. But I digress as the continued use of math at this point will do nothing but cause insanity and likely an aneurysm.

Depending on the model, I'd agree 1/35 or 1/48 is fine to use with 40k figures. It'll really depend on the model however, so be sure to look at the models measurements to get an idea on it's size before you buy.
