Apparently I am a bit slow. I am having trouble finding answers to my questions.

The FAQ says an IC on a mount gets a pure toughness 5 not a 4(5), but it says nothing else about strength, rending, additional attacks or the like. Is there anything at all from official channels that lets us know what other stats are changed when an IC gets on a mount?

Secondly, I have seen lists where an IC on a mount joins a pack of fenrisian wolves, where in the rules is this stated?

pg. 62 of the Space Wolves codex under Thunderwolf Mount explains the +1 and what units he can join, and I believe since the FAQs say its a characterstic change for his toughness it applies to his strength and attacks as well. However this isn't stated anywhere.

D'oh, I guess I am blind. You think I could have found that in the codex.

Sigmatron; The FAQ does not state it is a characteristics change for Toughness, that would make it 4(5) per the BRB page 7(I think)

The whole issue of the Profile change at the moment is whether or not the IC gets Strength 4(5), or Strength 5.

I am among the Camp that believes with both the wording of Profile Change, and the evidence in the FAQ, that the bonuses are to be applied as the New Base Stats.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

The profile is altered, it's not a typical characteristic modifier. There will be a few people who refuse to accept this, however.

MSP - becaue they never bothered to actually do it for S is why.

Some people seem to think that altering the profile isnt modifying the characteristics, despite the profile being defined as the set of characteristics....apparently there you alter magcial "thin air" that just so happens to be the same as the Strength characteristic.

Of course, that is only "some people", eh?

Would you like some cheese with your WHINE? Jesus Christ, I never understand why some people butt into threads just to bitch and moan. Surely there are better things to do than beat an already dead and almost completely decomposed horse?

Now onto an additional question I have. Since there are no thunderwolf models currently, do we even know what size they are supposed to be? How large the base is perhaps?

Stavkat; Nos raises a good point and is of the "other camp" that believes a profile change is a characteristic change, therefor fall under the modified characteristics rule.

the real problem is that he is sort of right; the definition of Characteristic change is exactly what the thunderwolf mount does.
However the Thunderwolf mount states it changes the profile, and the profile is defined as the Value of the Characteristics. Also the FAQ clarifies this in relation to the Toughness, and therefor by extension the Strength and attacks.

stavkat - sorry for "butting in", just putting across the other view point.

Same base as Canis.

Is this stated anywhere? Or is just an inference?

You can always ask the TO to dice off for it. That is what I do. Plus if you play daemons SW cannot ID any of your units.

Stated nowhere, though I would imagine that is the universal standard, obviously other creations exist, though people probably expect Canis' size.

Well if you want to go RAW then you cannot use TWC at all, as no models exist for them and you are only allowed to use Citadel Models, not converted Citadel Models.

So to be realistic using ther same size base as the only other model which has a TWM seems sensible doesnt it?
