I'm now looking for "Cool Traitor" in 40k universe for my 3rd army theme.

I really like "Cypher" fluff.
He is Royal but regarded as Traitor.

Now,I'm looking for a army(team,faction,group etc) of Traitor with cool fluff.
I like "I betray xxx to do good" or "I betray xxx to save the world" kind fluff.
Do you know any of it?

Let me know your knowledge. If there is detail,let me know detail too. I don care spoiler. I like to hear.

Alpha legion, its strongly hinted that they only turned to chaos to destroy it in the long run, plus there actions though bad often end up helping the imperium later down the line.

souldrinkers. Not chaosSM nor normal SM

Tau Farsight Enclave; You have a Battlesuit Commander that turned his back on the accepted version of the Greater good, because his entire Sept world was abandoned to the Orks, with his Enclave still on it.

Left to Die he and his warriors killed a great many Orks and then managed to flee... some how... and now his Firewarriors get preferred enemy: Orks, he is limited on what units he can take with him, and has tons of battlesuits.

Nice,cool story.

Chaos Space Marine would have good story.

I wonder if any full follower of Chaos woke up one day and decided "To hell with this" and turned away fully from Chaos and the Chaos Gods, and ended up being a thorn in their side, like a sort of anti-hero.

To the OP, if you went down the Chaos Space Marine route, there is Huron Blackheart, the least tainted Traitor that Chaos has to offer.

Maybe something along the whole 'Eisenhorn' line, you were a very lerned librarian/ inquisitor who dabbled in the warp in pursuit of a deamon etc. then stumbled upon some dodgey arcane magiks which slowly but surely lulled them further down the path of chaos...

So your librarian/ inquisitor could lead a force of space marines / guardsmen who use the rules for the normal army but spiced up a bit with a few Chaos spells, a dark eldar ability here and there, couple of spawn...

Then because the Imperuim casts them out, they can be kind of free-lancers, mercenaries hired by different factions to do dirty work?

Just an idea...

Totall nice. I like such kind anti-hero.

I'd suggest the Relictors, they were codex marines who used chaos weapons/ artefacts against the powers of chaos, they were nearly destroyed by the grey knights and they fled to the eye of terror

Erebus of the Word Bearers. The dude is so evil, he makes it look cool. Afterall, being the guy that basically corrupted horus immediately makes you bad-ass and cool in my book.

I view 'Traitors' as entirely different from 'Renegades'. Traitors are those who have turned from the Imperium and offered themselves wholly to the Chaos Gods. Renegades have left the Imperium for a number of reasons, corrupted geneseed, disillusionment, a sense of futility, greed or sheer misunderstanding on the bludgeoning part of the Imperium. It doesn't necessarily mean falling to chaos. These soldiers may continue to fight for the Imperium outside it's realms, or return precisely when needed. I can't imagine a worse fate, fighting dying and believing in what you love, yet only being hated and condemned in return.

Well, Alpha Legion turned to Chaos because they believed that they were aiding the emporer in doing so; they believed that if Horus won, Chaos would turn on itself and be eradicated for all eternity.

I mean Reneged,Traitor,Betrayer,Rebel. Anyway what ever they called,I want my 3rd army of "We betray/leave xxx to do good" or "We betray/leave xxx to save the world" kind fluff.

As a long time CSM player, I can clear up some confusion about the CSM fluff in regards to your anti hero idea

Huron: He is an evil pirate who is allied with Chaos. No good here. He wouldn't fulfill your theme

Alpha Legion: Sided with Horus during the heresy due to a prophecy that if Horus won/Alpha legion sided with chaos, chaos would die out completely in the future. Alpha Legion are completely mysterious and no one ones their true intentions (not even GW). Also One of their 2 primarchs is still alive. You could easily do some sort of loyalist Alpha Legion warband if you want.

Insert Random Renegade SM Chapter here: Probably your best bet. You can still make them good but at the same time not follow the corrupt imperium/inquisition.

I think Huron's background is in the latest CSM codex.

You know, you already said you like the Cypher fluff. Why not make an army based around the concept of a number of the Fallen Dark Angels who have banded together in a unified quest for redemption? To do this they aid the Imperium when they can, slipping away before the Dark Angels who hunt them show up.

Depending on what codex you want to use, you could have them either turn their backs on Chaos entirely (using C:SM) or embrace it in an attempt to master it to use against the enemies of the Imperium (using C:CSM).
