After reading about B5 ACTA from here I got on Mongoose's website and started reading all the stuff about B5 it really got me going.

I'm picking up the rules, ASFOS, and a Minbari fleet.  I'll have other ships eventually, but since I'm probably going to be the only one in my area to play this it will be slow going.

Most of the GW players around me are kids.  I have very few mature players near me and most of them are leery of this game since no one plays.

Hopefully I can persuade some to actually play this game even with the counters from the basic box.

Thanks Russ !!

Good luck! You won't be sorry. I've not seen a game rival this one's appeal to our local play group since 40K. A worthy investement. Welcome to the fold.

Just got my basic rules yesterday. Overall it's almost like BFG for movement and shooting. The only difference is all the special abilities of ships and weapon abilities.

The biggest difference is the integrated turn system. You move a ship, I move a ship. You shoot a ship, I shoot a ship.

This is a VERY different dynamic.

Another big difference is that the fighter rules are much better in this system. And thank God the gunnery table is gone. The weapon mechanics are very tight in B5.

Wait until we Russ gets some of the pics of Craig Gallant's B5 space-battle board up. he explained how he made it and it's real easy and very, very slick. Once your local gamers see it, they'll be a lot more enthusiastic. Not that I wasn't enthusiastic before I saw it, but good terrain makes all the difference, even in the vacuum of space.

Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Oh, wait, I see that it already is up in the Photos section! Check it out.
