I started looking through the imperial armour vol 1 book, and came across the armoured battlegroup.

The question i have is since leman russ tanks are counted as troops for FOC are they considered scoring?

Cant find anything that says they are scoring in the update, or in the website.

no because vehicles are never scoring, it says it somewhere. If i had my rulebook on me i would cite it

If not, then vehicles cannot score.

It's a shame because its a good idea (an IG mech only codex) but a troop counting non-scoring leman russ is an epic fail.

No, they don't.

They have armoured fist squads to take objectives.

only one type of objective taking unit is still a fail, should have had the LR as a scoring unit to give more options.

In all it was a good idea and I think Forgeworld would sell more books if they just reworked this to be a little more inline with what a basic Codex should be.

Think of it this way, Armor is used to clear the objective and infantry is used to secure it. Using armor to secure an objective is just begging for it to be destroyed.

I do remember reading in one of them that something along the lines of a special character turned basic LRBT's into scoreing units.

Will have to try to dig it up tomorrow for you.

That way I can give this army list a try/chance.

The only scoring vehicle is the Ravenwing Landspeeder IIRC... other than that, no beans.

There used to be a list that allowed you to take an entire tank company, and have "scoring" units as well. That, however, was a long time ago.

Yea... if you want scoring... are you not allowed to have Armored Fist Squads??

In the armoured battlegroup list, you can have armored fist units (basically infantry squads in a chimera), but that is the only troop of two in the armoured battlegroup that is scoring.

So if you want a troop choice in an Armoured Battlegroup your choices are:

1) A LR tank
2) A unit that can actually win the game, because it can score

I was hoping that there was some special rule that I missed that would allow the LR tank to act as a scoring vehicle since it's purchased as a tank (but no such luck).
