Once again, my Girfriend has decieded to pick up the brush! I had some remaining bugs from her present some of yall may have saw a while back, and I decieded to give her the chance to paint them. My girlfriend used her vast knowledge of makeup to paint these guys with my supplies, impressing me nonetheless. Tell me what yall think.

Yeah, definately more reptilian, kinda refreshing I think .
She wasn't scared of trying new things thats for sure. She painted one boltgun metal then dry brushed it with hawk turqoise. I didn't think it was going to work well, but it turns out that the model looked like oxidixed copper, a perfect look for statues or any old coppery warrior in an army!

I'm very surprised that you got your girlfriend to paint a 40k piece.

She's actually painted 3 so far, one IG tank commander and 2 bugs. She thinks theyre cute, and she loves crafts anyway. We jokingly talked about starting a Lady Gaga Demon Army.

Interesting scheme on the nid though. Definitely different from all the other bugs out there.

I see no problem with the painting, but the photography definetly needs work.
It looks like your girlfriend has done a fairly decent job for a beginner, but it's hard to tell with the lighting. Drop the flash, and go for a better lighted environment. Sunlight is optimal.

Definately agree with you on the photos I take, for some reason they look FAR better on my phone befor ethey get uploaded. Think it might be the AMLED screen. Soon as I figure out how to use this giant behemoth of a machine our family calls a camera I should be ok.

My phone takes excellent pictures (see my signature), so phones don't automatically have bad cameras. See if you can turn off the flash on yours. The picture itself seems fine, it's just the flash that poses a problem.

Yeah, the phone itself has an excellent camera as well, the flash on the other hand has only ON and OFF. Someday I'll have to play with it more to see if theres some more settings on the thing.

Well, my phone has no flash, only light filter settings, so just try around with different lighting. You'd be amazed what the sun can do to a mini.

That would be..rather interesting, rather interesting indeed.
Although, You would need a new special rule called "Horrible songs" that kills every enemy model within the approximate range of a "female" voice.

Yeah, next step is to try and get her to play a game with me or one of my friends who is interested in playing. She was worried that I was going to make her play one of those "wierd guys" at our FLGS.
I'm really glad y'all like her model. I'll have to send her the link to what everyone is saying about it

Props to people who aren't afraid to use obnoxious colors.
In this case, cyan and olive drab cause a riot of color (especially with the black), which makes it not dissimilar to nature which uses bright, clashing colors to announce when something is poisonous.
I'd like to see a pack of 20 of these things once they're finished.

I am very aware that "smelly old men" is not a nice term. I'm sorry if that offends anyone.
A carnifex would look nice, mabe a present for her in the future?
Unfourtunately, I dont play bugs (or lizzards, in this case), so her painting "my army" isn't going to happen.
Though, she was anxious to help me with both my stormtrooper conversions and some sanguinary guard conversions. I figured these were a bit too advanced for her, so I thanked her for the offer but declined her assistance. Making bionic arms resulted in me cutting my left thumb 3 times, I could only imagine what would happen to a beginner.
If anyone is interested in the color scheme, I believe it went something like this:
The skin is simply built up layers of drybrushing from Dark Angels Green to Camo Green, Followed by a light drybrushing of scorpion green.
The carapace is Hawk Turquoise with a Regal Blue wash, followed by a dry brushing of hawk turquoise and then a dry brushing of space wolves gray. She then gloss varnished the carapace to make it look slimy.
