Hi all,

I'd like your opinions on the worth of ork aircraft. In IA8, 4 aircraft are detailed - the ork fighta, fighta-bomma, bomma, and blasta bomma. Anyone have a chance to look these over and form an opinion yet? Any experiences with ork aircraft in apoc games, positive or negative? Been thinking of doing up an orky airforce (obviously apoc only).

To me, the blasta bomma looks totally amazing. Super-heavy flier with bomms out the wazoo (more so if you give up the 20 ork carrying capacity), 4 big shootas on each side and a nose mounted deff arsenal with insane range. Steep points cost, but probably worth it.

Conversely, the ork fighta looks more or less like a waste of points. Not that much less than a fightbomma (from memory, at work here) but very lightly armed.

Finally, a bit of modeling advice wanted - how big should a blasta bomma be? I've never seen any pictures anywhere, but I was contemplated building one as a scratch-built looted thunderhawk.

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

i got a fighta bomma, its quite fun to use and its bomms (burner and normal) work ok against things with weak armour like gaurd. so i thing there worth geting but that comeing from someone who has a spead freak army.

I've seen a fighta bomma used once vs guard to good effect. Though it got shot down the turn after it came on (did a bombing run right over the guard players' deployment zone), the thing roasted his CCS, a heavy weapon team and a bunch of guys from 4 infantry squads. A couple of the squads ended up running.

I'm really liking the blasta bomma for its versatility. It can go all out with bomms, or it can transport 20 stormboys in its bomm bays. Also, the deff arsenal would be great at anti-tank (even vs super heavies - 3d6 str 9 ap 3 shots, plus 1d3 supa-rokkits is an insane amount of firepower potentially).

Anyone else have any stories of ork air dominance (or failure)? Also, how large would you make an ork superheavy flier?
