in reference to deffkoptas why is it that most list with a squad of 3 only have 1 buzzsaw and no bombs...are the bombs worthless and do you only need 1 buzzsaw?

Thanks in advance

Bombs are average at best, can be useful but are abit over priced, Buzzsaws are for first turn charges against veichals.

Bombs are generllay overcosted...everytime ive used one its been less than impressive, it can scatter and is only str4...not so hot for a one shot upgrade...ill only take em to take advantage of wound allocation and only if i can scrounge up 15 pts...1 buzzsaw is common due to the fact that it will always strike last if you get stuck in CC and it costs the same as a regular PK...now PKs are much much better in every other unit that can take them, koptas have the weakest PKs available and they cost the same as a nob or warboss PK!

Buzzsaw is for when all your missiles miss. They will.

First turn charge like Eagle sez... you will ruin someone's day.

The biggest reasons that bomms suck, is that they are anti-horde. Orks are a horde army themselves, so they should be able to handle
most horde armies with weight of numbers. Combine that with the Low BS and scatter rules, mean that you're paying points that will be useless against most armies, and have a high chance to miss anyway.

Bigbomm only scatters D6 inches. Is that modified by the BS of the deffkopta?

I'm inclined to think know until I research it further.

No it's not reduced by BS - it's not a shooting attack.
At least that has always been how I've played it.

I tried using the bomms and they never paid off for me. I actually shelved my koptas until I realized what an awesome alpha strike vs vehicles they can be. Now I field them in squads of 1 with rokkits and a buzzsaw. I go after a nice juicy tank. There are usually no troops to hit with the bomm that early in the game since most armies are meched up.

Also, I field kans with grotzookas - I have hoard covered.

Big Bomb is awfull! Str 4? One shot only? That scatters?
Hell I'd rather give my boyz stickbombs then the bomb...
The buzz saw is quite expensive but provides a good alpha strike option vs vehicles. 3 Str 7 attacks on the charge are not really worth 25points unless it takes out that vehicle on turn 1 Also having 1 buzzsaw heps with wound allocation.

One of the local IG Players hates my suicide koptas (I run 2 singles with TL Rokkits and Buzzsaws at 1850) because They have single handedly destroyed his Russ squadrons before they ever got to fire on several occasions.

I was mistaken earlier. The BS of the Deffkopta doesn't matter for the Big Bomm. It always scatters D6 inches.
They are still horrible though.

Kopta's are a godsend in my Mech Ork army. They made back their points and then some in every game I played (well them and the grots) during 'ard Boyz Semi's this year.

I like running 2 groups of 2 Rokkit Koptas with 1 buzzsaw. Some like 1 in a skwadron, some 3, it's all to taste.

The reason people like them is because they give you a great alpha strike distraction unit half the time, and outflanking the other half. When you learn target priority with them, they are deadly.

Another reason to take them is that the fast attack section for orks doesn't have a lot of competition.

Rokkit buggies are pretty awesome if you have the models. You can get 6 buggies with t/l rokkits for only 210 pts. Pop a big mek in a truck behind them with a KFF and you have a respectable anti tank option (unless the armour is 14)

Its also cause people mainly use them to turbo scout if they go first then move 12. Fire rockets into the back of something then charge it and kill it. After that they get shot to death. THey are really a one trick pony and after that they are useless thats why people only ever take 2 or 3.

The bomb is more of an anti infantry thing. While very fun to use people dont ever use em in that way since its not "competative"

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.

You can also use kopta's to tie up Zoanthropes, Heavy Weapons Teams, Rangers, Special Weapons teams, small blob Squads, Devestators, Hive Guard, etc.
