Yeah.

Basically, what I've planned so far is an army based around dropping jumping honour guard in ASAP with special weaponry like Meltas and Flamers to provide some powerful and mobile firepower, while supporting from afar with sternguard squads loaded on plasma cannons, or whatever other goodies catch my eye.

Other then that, the only real assualt unit I plan on making would be a vanguard vet squad to tie up enemies.

So, I need to figure out what to use as my HQ choices. I'm thinking just having two librarians with jump packs and possibly epistolary if I have room. Send them in with the honour guard for added punch, and possibly throw in SoS for CC punch.

I don't think the Captain is worth taking, since you can get more attacks for less just by taking another honour guard or vanguard veteran.

Chaplains wouldn't be worth much either, since the only assault squad I intend on using would be vanguard vets. And they'd be used for heroic intervention.

So I'm kind of at a loss. I don't want to use the magical flying Carnifex, since it doesn't fit my army's fluff (ie, not blood angels).

Right now, I have one Librarian about halfway done being converted, so I want to know what else to take before I make any more HQ.

It's a shame that there's no shooty HQ in the BA dex... The reason why I chose BA over vanilla dex is because BA have the whole mobile shooty gimmick going on, which just sounds badass when you think about it. Say what you will about dropping into melee, shooting your enemy to death from above is cooler.

I would reconsider the Chaplains going with the Vets. Often times you will find Divine Intervention not worth going for.

Either that or stick with the Libby idea since he is as shooty as you are going to get.

libby is a pretty good shooter as an HQ. Blood lance is pretty sweet. Great way to open up transports so the models inside can be assaulted/flamed. I think that is probably your best bet.

GET THE CHAPLIAN! IF U DONT GET THE CHAPLIAN U WILL DIE! FOR THE EMPEROR! But, do get the chaplien. When me and my friend had a battle a few days ago, SM vs SM, our units with chapliens in them were the most efficent, he put the chaplien in with a Sternguard and me a tactical squad, and the only reason I lost is because it just got boring. We were gonna play till one team got destroyed, no turn limits. So we got to turn eleven and I just got so bored with everyone left standing being fearless ( the only people left were the chapliens and there squads) that I declare surrrender. Chapliens are the best!

I like Dante most out of any HQ in the BA book, You load up your Honor guard with whatever you want and attach Dante. When you deep strike into play you run zero risk of a mis-hap. (Even though you only roll a D6 to begin with.) This allows for near perfect on range and you can set it up so you won't get assaulted.

As for non-named HQ's I perfer the Librarian first because of the psychic powers and psychic defense.

I do like the Captain cause he can be customized to high heaven. But he is best for CC.

The Reclusiarch I think is best suited for Death Company because of the re-rolling hits and wounds. Though the re-rolling just hits for other units is nice as well.

ChrisWWII wrote:I eventually realized that it was apparently one die I had been rolling that kept turning up 3s. My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

I'd take a Librarian with shield and lance.
The shield can go up when the enemy shoots a unit close to the Librarian,
and the lance helps when an enemy vehicle comes close.

Its the best choice you can take.

I like the librarians. they're cheap, they're good fighters, they protect you from psychic powers, they can give their whole squad preferred enemy. the other guys are good but too expensive. shooting is not really the blood angels best game, nor are hqs as a general rule all that good at it.

For shooty, Tycho could be a good choice. Put him with the sternguard as he has a combimelta with the special issue ammo.

Tycho is the Sterngaurd character Pedro is. He is good in shooting. And MEPHESTAIN! is always a good choice, because he dosent want a carnifax without monsterious creature?

You seem to have the idea with the librarians, just go with one or two, and pimp to your liking.

My problem with Mephiston is that my chapter, The Gallowsmen (see the fluff in the background section) doesn't really have anything that could be represented as something equivalent.
