Im trying to paint some pristine white SM but it's taking too long and I need to get an army up soon.
This is my current method:
1. prime white
2. wash badab black
3. codex gray
4. fortress gray
5. fortress gray/skull white 1:1
6. fotress gray/skull white 1:2
6. skull white/water 2:1
I generally skip codex gray now, as I think that only applies to black primed models. But it takes me 3 - 5 hours to finish just a normal SM. My question is, does anyone know a better/quicker way to paint white?
I can only paint one model at a time, Ive tried and failed doing otherwise.

Drybrushing should work fine. I know several Armies which have featured White heavily, and to my knowledge, they've all been drybrushed.

Easiest and best way:
1. Spray White
2. Line shade with watered down Shadow Grey
3. (Optional) Blend shade with watered down Space Wolves Grey.

I must disagree there Zarkin. For a stronger white, this technique has never failed me:
Black Base coast
Layered 1:1 chaos black, codex grey
Codex Grey
Fortress grey
Skiull white
All layers in multiple, thin, watered down parts, for a smooth and even coat. BTW, Bazinga, youre original concept is far too complex and unecessary. Try to simplify it to save time

You could replace drybrushing with stippling, really easy to do and gives you a great texture

that was my original concept, the final layer of skull white didnt seem to work for me though, so i split it up.

My nearest GW is several hours away :(
Other modelling shops only have black and white primers.
I dont like ordering from GW site, cuz it seems more expensive

Have to agree with Zarkin on this one - If you want white quick (and I mean quick), spray white, wash the recesses with heavily watered down shadow grey, then neaten it up with white either layered on or drybrushed (depending on how neat you want to be.
One idea that I have found works if you have more time is not to go for pure white. Paint the model Space Wolf grey over a white undercoat (remember 2 thin coats is better than one thicker coat), wash heavily watered down shadow grey into the recesses as before and then neaten up with SW grey. You can then use skull white as an edge highlight.
(Both these can work subbing Codex Grey for Shadow Grey and Fortress Grey for SW Grey, but I find the blue tinge in Shadow/SW works better for making it a strong white).
Hope this helps - and show us pics when its done!!

1. Spray White Primer.
2. Create a blue wash and wash the model.
3. Repaint large flat areas white again.
4. then add in details weapons eyes etc.
Consider use of Soft Tone Quickshade do not use any other quickshade it will ruin the model and remember to spray with DULLCOTE to take off the shine.
I used this on my Praetors of Orpheus models when i experimented with them, it worked quite well and i could do a combat squad to a good table top standard in 5-6 hours working on a production line method see Dakka Articles for further advice on Production line methods oh and some good tutorials on You tube.
