Hey guys, after a recent tourney, I've figured I need something a little more sensible to use at them now I know the rules. Previously, I've been using a Doom Reaver/eButcher list, but found this to be fun to play, but not too effective.

So, I have come to the conclusion I need to build myself a suitable painful list to play at tourneys. I'd quite like to base my list around Kayazy Assassins, due to the.... conversion opportunities they bring up, and also, because with the Underboss solo they become even better and his mini feat sounds like it could be useful.

So, here is the list I have come up with to start-

-Caster - Kommander Strakhov / pButcher (Because Iron Flesh makes assassins even more painful)
-Spriggan
-Kayazy Assassins (9+Leader)
-Kayazy Assassin Underboss
-Assault Kommandos (9+Leader)
-Assault Kommandos (2 Flamethrowers)

So, what do we think? Comments and criticisms encouraged as I'm looking to make myself a competitive tourney list, and will be playtesting before I actually buy any models, but it'd be nice to get a rough idea first.

Thanks muchly, GUO.

Both casters look a bit licht on jacks to be honest. For butcher it micht not be such a problem, but he likes to hog focus. and you do not want to upkeep ironflesh on the kayazi, as it is a spell that boosts def, but hurts speed, making you unable to charge or run. As such it is usefull to upkeep once in combat but not before...

I think dropping the large assaultkommandos for a extra jack would be a good choiche... leftover points could go towards a wardog or something along those lines...

Hmm.... the only thing is, I can shield Strakhov relatively well with the Assault Kommandos, also, he's a support caster through and through, so I don't have to have him in the fray like Butcher.

This lets me have him behind lines, also the flamers can shoot through my own assault kommandos, due to them and Strackhov being immune to fire!

But I'll think about dropping maybe half for a second jack, what sort of jacks where you thinking?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ah..... very slight problem. I've just realized the above list is only 24 points..... So, here is the actual 35 point list!

-Strakhov
-Spriggan
-Spriggan
-Assault Kommandos (5+Leader)
-Assault Kommando Flamethrower
-Assault Kommandos (5+Leader)
-Kayazy Assassins (9+Leader)
-Kayazy Assassin Underboss

The other option is that I drop a Spriggan for a Destroyer and put another Flamethrower in the second squad.

So people, what do we think of this slightly more.... correct list?

would explain why the list looked so light

2 spriggans is a challenge for most opponents. I however am more of a fan of destroyers as they have good cannons to take on the enemy at range. YMMV though...

Ah, I have encountered a slight problem, making my list on an online army builder, I found it to be....slightly over 35 points.

This means that it looks like I'm going to have to change a jack to allow for the points.

This is what the list looks like now, I've used the Kodiak as a second jack as I've found it to be very versatile, and uses pathfinder, also requires little focus so I can use Strakhov's focus on spells more.

Army: Black Ops
Type: Skirmish (1 caster, 35pts)
Points: 35
Kommander Strakhov (*6pts)
* Destroyer (9pts)
* Kodiak (8pts)
Assault Kommandos (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Assault Kommandos (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Kayazy Assassins (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Kayazy Assassin Underboss (2pts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (4pts)
Widowmaker Marksman (0pts)

Kayazy's + iron flesh = pain, they can run just fine through your enemy's line and engange a bunch of models. Its only charging that you cant do with speed debuff.

This leaves the opponent with the choice of eating painful freestrikes or trying to hit crazy high defense.

Especially fun when you manage to surround something, and their options are "kill models with insanely high defense or stand still twiddling your thumbs and eat ganged backstabs."

Has this changed from MKI to MKII then? I know in MKI that any movement debuff also caused not being able to charge or run. I thought I read that in MKII to, but I can't check now because I am at work..

Movement debuffs have never prevented running. In Mk I, it was the preferred way to not be completely neutered by Temporal Barrier.

Why take the assault kommandos? I have not had good luck with them at all, although, I have only used them a couple of times. It seems you would get more use out of WG gunners, rockets, mortars etc. I love using manhunters as well, they can deal out significant damage on just about anything. I had a fantastic game with strakhov+mortar+manhunter+devestator. Strakhov was made to have a mortar with him, or widowmakers.
