Subject: Natural Weapons count as additional handweapon?

My necron friend claims that wraiths and flayed ones get the +1 a for wielding additional melee weapon, as they are equipped with teeth, claws barbed tail and so forth.. It specifically states two different body parts in their equipment-list. But, the base profile has 2 A, 3 for the wraith, and I claim it's already implemented in the profile that the models have multiple limbs and so forth, but there is no actual wording about it in the necron Codex. I just bought the tyranid codex, and there it states that teeth and claws counts as a single hand weapon. Any inputs?

No input I'm afraid, but I do think its rude to view a thread and not comment!
Maybe a new cron codex would sort out all these issues?

A general rule which is applied is that when it states things such as "teeth, claws, etc", these collectively count as a single CCW. The same thing is mentioned in the Giant Spawn in IA: Apoc, as it names about 4 different things like teeth, bad breath etc, so some would say it gets 4 extra attacks, but just like I said, they're only a single CCW.

Since flayed ones (armed with claws) get 2 attacks and wraiths (armed with claws and barbed tail) get 3 attacks on their profiles it would appear that the additional attack has already been given to the wraith.
Or you could just refer him to page 42 BRB which lists close combat weapons and ask him to show you where teeth, claws and tails are listed.

Sorry mate, was busy fixing a friends PC, thus the Tardy Response! :p
As for the OP, no, they do not get +1A. RaW Wraiths do not have a CCW of any kind. Ask him to show you where it tells you the rules for "Claws" and "Teeth". Even in the SM codex it tells you the rules for a normal CCW.

This.
There are no rules in the Necron Codex explaining any special rules for the "natural" weapons of Necrons. And additionally the list of CCW's in the BRB and their associated bonuses to attacks do not list any of the necrons "natural" weapons.

It also might be worth citing the way they did it in the current Codex: 'Nids. Try that one if he argues.

As a cron player myself....no, you get the statline attacks and possibly +1 for charging into an assault, that's it.

I think the attacks on the statline represent all the attacks it's getting. So no, no bonuses.
Although I quite wish you did get bonuses for extra weapons listed, because I have a fantastic mental image of a Squiggoth killing a space marine via abominable bad breath!

The second bullet point on page 37 specifies that you don't get extra bonuses for having more than two weapons...
For the actual question, I would agree that as neither 'Claws' nor 'Barbed Tail' are ever actually defined as either a CCW or a single-handed weapon, they don't get the +1 bonus for having them.

This is very similar to the question "if a model doesn't have a close combat weapon listed in his profile, does it count as a defenceless combatant?"
The key to remember is that you need a weapon to fight with your basic statline (a local unfortunate stone or your soon-to-be-bruised body parts can make a stand-in). Unless the model has two one-handed weapons specified (and note that these weapons don't have to be melee weapons, just weapons that are used in one hand!) you get no additional attacks.

I'm also a cron player, I'm throwing in with the "NO" crowd.
Tell your mate, nice try, better luck next time. If you're feeling merciful, maybe let him play 1-2 games fan-dex style with WBB changed to FNP, and Gauss shifted to Rending with the footsloggers getting Slow n' Purposful.
lol, good gaming

It's actually not. In this case, all that is being questioned is whether or not the two weapons listed both count as close combat weapons.
The key to remember is that you need a weapon to fight with your basic statline
No you don't. You need two weapons in order to receive the +1 bonus, but there is nothing in the rules that says that you need one in order to fight at all.
...and note that these weapons don't have to be melee weapons, just weapons that are used in one hand!
It's also probably worth pointing out that this is a fairly often-debated point, due to the rules being a little unclear and contradictory on the matter. Some players do go with the interpretation that it needs to be defined as a close combat weapon in order to grant the bonus.
