Hello,

Not sure if anyone will be able to help with this, but im trying to work out how to paint my land raider.

basicaly I want it to be the same colour as my marines but there paint scheme relays heavily on ink washes and drybrushing and i not sure how this will translate to the large fkat serfaces of the LR.

the way I have painted my marines is a black spray undercoat, then a base coate with codex grey, then a heavy wash or armin blue, then a drybrush of space wolves grey. this gives nice stoney denim look.

so yeah im not sure how to go about doing this on my land raider, the washes dont seem to behave in the same way when used on flat serfaces and its hard to get a consitant colour.

so would i be better of starting with a blue base coat and working from there? and if thats the case what would be good colours to use?

so yeah any help will be appreciated.

You could always Wash, concentrating on the Recesses, and then just paint Codex Grey over it on the Flat Panels. Finally, drybrush Space Wolves Grey, and you should have a similar result. The Wash should be done over White, I think. So, to recap, you'll;

Prime in White
Wash in Asurmen Blue, ensuring you hit the Recesses. Don't worry about Flat Surfaces.
Coat in Codex Grey, missing the Recesses completely if you can.
Dry Brush in Space Wolves Grey, picking out the Hard Edges, as well as the Flat Surfaces.

That should work.

You may also want to consider painting it in codex gray and then using several layers of blue filter (from Mig)

Dry Brushing on Tanks works a treat. You just need a much larger brush and you can really go for the extreme highlighting it takes a while but it gives a good effect.

Otherwise if your stuck have a look at the Citadel Guide to painting Armour, i've got it and its a good companion to many of the Articles on this website.
