Hey there. I'm wondering a few things as I'm reading through the new rulebook and my army book. I'm running Lizardmen, if that matters.

I understand that units can attack in two ranks in close combat. Now, under the Saurus entry, it says I can upgrade my Saurus to have spears. It doesn't say though, that all my models need to be equipped the same (unless that's in the rulebook ) and I know that having spears allows you to attack in three ranks. Could I theoretically equip say, 15 Saurus warriors to be 10 with hand weapons and shields and 5 to have spears and shields, thus allowing me to attack in three ranks?

Another question I have is in regards to armor. For example, Temple Guard have light armor, shields, and a 5+ scaly skin save. I know that shields give +1 to their armor save. I believe light armor does the same thing. Could I then assume that my Temple Guard would get a 3+ armor save?

I'm sorry if these questions suck I just need some clarity.

Models must be equipped the same. And yes, when temple guard use their shields, they get a 3+ total.

I believe you on this. I'm just wondering if there is a page number I can reference this?

On the same note as the Temple Guard, do they get their 3+ all the time, or only in close combat? Shields and Spears work together? Do two handed weapons work with shields? Does a Saurus Old Blood with a 4+ scaly skin, light armor, and a shield get a 2+ save? Is that only in CC or all the time?

pg. 88 "It is usual for all the models in a unit to carry the same weapons. ... It is acceptable for a unit to include a minority of models that are differently armed for the sake of a varied and interesting appearance, but the unit still counts as being armed as the majority. "

Temple guard are equipped with halberds, which require two hands (pg. 90). You have to use the halberd in lieu of your hand weapon (pg. 89). So you only get the shield bonus from ranged attacks.

Thanks for the quick responses I really appreciate it.

Here's another question. Slann have a discipline that says they can only be hurt by magic. Or so my interpretation says. Does that mean that normal weapons won't hurt him? Only magic attacks/magic weapons affect him?

So if my opponent isn't packing any magical attacks or weapons, I have a model that can't be killed?

Yes, you have a model that cannot be killed.

He can however be made to lose combat, break and flee. If he is the BSB this will automatically kill him.
