In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Quickstart rules are available on their site last I checked, but I recommend getting the full rulebook. Keep in mind that for hordes you'll instead need the Hordes Primal MK2 book which doesn't come out until the end of the month.

No army is weaker than any other really. (unlike a certain other system...*cough40Kcough*) Retribution has less models, but they're a newer army. Minions isn't really its own army yet so they don't count. I would show your sister all of the different armies and let her choose one.

What you should start with depends on the armies you choose, but whatever 2 armies you go with you can't really go wrong getting the battleboxes for those armies. (read:starter boxes)

Look at the Privateer Press Website. Pick two Factions you like the look of.
Explore the forums associated with those factions and see if it is something that interests you, game-wise.

Then pick up Battleboxes for the associated Factions. There are quickstart rules in the boxes, as well as on the site.
If you play it a couple times, either with battleboxes, or just proxies and the QSR from the site, and like it, then get the book.

FYI, Legion is a Hordes faction. The Quick start rules for Hordes are not out yet that I have seen. The MkII rules are out later this month.
Hordes and Warmachine can play together, but you may want to stick with both Hordes or both Warmachine, just so you aren't learning two different mechanics.

Bam, said the lady!

Did they put a link on the front page?

I haven't seen it if they did. Can't access PP from here, work blocks game sites.

I agree, don't mix warmachine and hordes to start. You'll probably have to grab both books, and it's a little confusing for new players.

All the factions are pretty easy, and balanced. So whatever looks like one you might enjoy playing.

This site has a good breakdown of units: http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/

Pick Legion of Everblight if you want to be awesome!

I tried being normal but it's boring so now I'm back to being insane

New WM player here and I did exactly what skrulnik suggested above...bought the Cygnar and Cryx battleboxes and start playing right away with the quick start rules.

FYI, I purchased the rule book as well (I was pretty sucked into the game just on the models alone so buying the rule book was a no brainer for me).

Good stuff and have fun!
