I've been reading Imperial Armour 8 and some the units have the legend that they can be used in Codex Orkz armies.

So, can they be used in tournaments as well? or just for casual games?

And also the Kustom Meka Dread that it can be chosen as a HvyS choice wich also contains at least one other Mega Dread.... but Mega Dreads cant be included in a Codex Orkz army.

Thanx in advance.

For the Tournaments question; That is entirely up to the TO.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

both casual games and tournies are effectively permission only. that may not be what the RAW in imperial armour says but the FW stuff tends to be viewed by those not familiar with it as overpowered and plenty of people prefer not to have to worry about it. while the current books don't have any specific exclusions about using them in regular 40k, the origianl series of FW books did and some gamers will try to use that as justification for not allowing them in casual or tourny games.

You will probably be able to use IE models in casual games, but tournament bosses will probably not let you use them. My local ones don't, at any rate.

This is Daemonic Cheese:

I'd put a quote here, but XKCD would have a better one.

Any unit not appearing in Codex Orks from GW requires your opponents permission to use in a standard game of 40K. Full stop.

TOs can of course change that.

Makes you wonder why they even bother to write wich units you can and cannot use with Codex Orkz then.

Thanx for the advice

Mega Dreads can be taken as a Heavy Support choice in a Dred Mob army list as shown on page page 136, or as standard Heavy Support choice in a regular list with opponent/tourney permission.

That is very true. And while it is a true remark, it really isn't too helpfull in this thread.

Giving any person even the notion of the idea that IA units can be taken in a standard game of 40K without specific permission from your opponent (no matter what the IA books say/imply) is a bad idea.

Armies are built using units from any one codex (don't be anal enough to bring up DH/WH, please) and that is that, so to speak.
Allowing units to be taken from any Forgeworld book because said Forgeworld book says it is OK, is no different than allowing units from a CC Services book to be taken because said CC Services book says it is OK.
