Hey guys!
I'm Lou, I live in Perth, Western Australia and I haven't even started gaming yet but firgured this was a great place to get some advice on which army to invest in to start with (and what to do from there!). My brother used to be really into 40K and made some pretty cool terrain etc. so I already have a bit of help that way but any other advise from much wiser veterans is definitely appreciated.
At this stage I'm more into looking at a WH Fantasy army, tossing up between Bretonnians or High Elves mostly (with a desire to get a 'darker' army done after my first one's painted up!).
Any suggestions/advice?

Well if you plan to play alot of games i suggest high elves because the starter box makes them comparatively cheap and bretonians got very disadvantaged by 8th edition, while the high elves got a very big boost.

I've done a little research and the general consensus that I've noticed is that Bretonnians are weak/lame?  I'm a pretty girly-girl though, and the thought of painting them up all pretty makes my heart a-flutter!
Are there some armies that you can combine? Or do you really only play one at a time?
At this stage I'm not sure how much gaming I will do. I don't even know if there are regular games in my area!
Heading off to my nearest GW shop next week to get started.

Unless you play legendary battles then sadly no you cant double them up.

If you want high elves try to find someone who wants to start or has a skaven army as both armys are in the new box set , you both buy a box and then swap you forces you dont play .
This way you both get twice the army for the same price 
Enjoy the madness
