Our club has just started a Flames of War Campaign based on operation Brevity.

We played the first game (Halfaya pass) last night

Nice. Those brits are just begging for a double width artillery strike laid out like that

Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!

I know, even a single template would have been bad, but the Italian artillery would have been vulnerable to the preliminary bombardment if we had started it on the table (and we wanted to maximize our trenches from the fortification rules). Even some HMGs would have been good.

The one shot we did get with our artillery before the end of the game hit 6 infantry and 2 tanks and they all saved!

Interesting stuff.

Our clubs Desert War project was based upon the same operation.

Lots of nice crap tanks involved... Far better than late war big cats!

I am enjoying the smaller tanks -- and what I found surprising is that at this stage of the war the Italian medium tanks are really as good as the German and British (though much slower!).

One thing that I disliked about the Bagration campaign that we played before this one is that everyone felt that they had to take the biggest tanks they could.

Yes... Things are much more even early-war, apart from the German command & control!

Just started my BEF for France 1940 as an alternative to trading shots with my Germans against my mates French, who when used well are a tough nut to crack.

Love the Desert War... Great mix of kit and equipment and easily expanded to cover the later fighting.

The one downside to the Desert War is that there are a lot of different British tanks that only seem to fight in one major engagement and then are replaced by the next model (this is a bit of an exagerration but still...).

I would like to paint up a BEF force at some point (the Mk VI light tank is very cool looking) but I am trying to keep my painting focussed so I don't end up with piles of stuff that don't get painted.

Yes, lots of changes for the Brits in the Desert... But atleast the infantry stay the same!

I have all my 1941 bits done, and I have never got the enthusiasm up to add the 1942 and 1943 changes to give me a force for over the whole period.

Maybe one day when other stuff is done!
