Hi guys,

This'll be my first modelling post! I'm hoping it'll provide inspiration for painting the 40+ unpainted/semi-painted models lying around.

heres a list of the ranks etc i've changed to fit the ancient roman scheme.

Imperator - Chapter Master Current Imperator is Imperator Manius Antonius, Imperator and Legatus of the 1st Cohort
Legatus - Captain

Legatus Vel Modius, Legatus of the 2nd Cohort &;
Legatus Primus Valerius, Legatus of the 3rd Cohort

Venator - Some form of hunter or scout cadre, possibly Assault Termies but more looking like the Death Company now that they're following the BA codex
Praetorian - Honor Guard
Quaestor - Sergeant (Factually closer to Decurion)
Cohort - Company
Centurians - Veterans
Celeres - Assault Troops
Legionaire - Marine Brothers
Velites - Scout Brothers

The honored diary of the long lost primarch is a legion relic.. the Leges Antoniae.

This chapter is based around the current 5th edition Blood Angels Codex. The pictures will be updated soon and photos will be taken in full also.

A current set of older WIP photos are up, check em out in the meantime

And here is a member of the death company in close up with the assault sergeant.

An AOBR Dread - Furioso/DC Dread conversion

And a made from lots of bits Mephiston, deathly enough?

So if anyone has any ideas on the scheme at the moment, what does it look like from an outsiders perspective?

Do they all tie in?

The Furioso/DC dread, does it fit the part?
The same as above but for Mephiston?

I'll post an all together as is army shot tomorrow if I can.
Harsh feedback is ok as long as it's constructive...
haha gulp*

You definitely have a good grasp of bone colors but I noticed you are happy person with red

A few of your figures have a few swipes of red either on their shoes or connecting to other parts. Cleaning this will add to the contrast of colors on your figures. ( I checked to see if you were doing a blood spatter affect but it looks like it is just run off from the red robe)

I enjoy what you have currently and look forward to more.

Again take what I say as a grain of salt on the ladder of skilled painters I am the one tripping on the first rung.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

Go look at pictures of Roman Legionnaires.

Give your Marines red cloaks. For ones with Storm Shields, make them big tower shields, rectangular and mildly curved. Model the Power Weapons after the gladius. Combs on the helms (of just the important ones?). Modify the shoulderpads to look like they're overlapping scales (do a google image search for Roman Legionnaires, you'll see what I mean, it's difficult to articulate). Brass trim on everything. The short skirts would look silly on marines, but maybe for the lighter-armored Scouts? (do Blood Angels have Scouts?)

If you're feeling creative, you could even do a diorama with a couple of Marines in a gladiatorial match in their off time, using more mundane weapons and having stripped off most of their power armor.

Anyway, great idea, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
