Hi all. I was wondering if there was a game reason for Tyrion to be on the bigger size base? He isn't riding a monster, just a better than normal horse. Does he have to be on the big base or can i use a regular size cavalry base for him? If he has to be on the bigger base, does that mean he gets stomp? Would seem like a very silly thing for him to have. I am wanting to use my custom made version of him and wanted to make sure what base he had to be set on.

Because in sixth ed (when the model was made) Mallahandir (the horse) was indeed a monstrous mount and could be hit separately from Tyrion. I believe that you can use a normal cavalry base for your custom built Tyrion. I stuck my old one on a normal cav. base.

That makes sense. I always wondered why the official model was on the larger base. I always assumed it was because they could do more with it and have him stepping on that dark elf.

With 8th Tyrion is back to being Monstrous Calvary (according to the Reference section) so your opponents may not appreciate you using smaller bases.
Why would you want to anyway? You might deny yourself a juicier Stomp target.

Really? He's monstrous cavalry? I always picture Bloodcrushers or Rhinox riders as being monstrous cav, not a high elf on a horse.

He used to be a few editions back, but not anymore.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

I think that you are wrong on this one. He is listed as monstrous cavalry in the Bestiary about High Elves in the Rule book. Pg. 484 to be exact.
Back to OP, seeing as Tyrion is listed as monstrous cavalry, it seems appropriate for him to be mounted on the larger base and not the regular cavalry one.

If that's true, does that mean he gets a strength 4 stomp attack now? I'm going to have to look that up.

Ayup, I saw Tyrion all of once in 7th edition. I expect 8th will be the same way. That is in the hands of someone playing him because either he's a) a cool model or b) doesn't know any better yet.
