The codex states that two marines, can have weapons upgraded to meltas, flamers etc...

i'm wondering when the champions weapon is upgraded to a combi-melta, if it counts for one of these two weapon upgrades?


so......

will my troops consist of 6 Plague marines, 1 with melta, 5 with a bolters, and a plague champ wit a combi-melta

or is it possible to do this:

6 Plague marines, 2 with meltas, 4 with a bolter, and a plague champ wit a combi-melta

The champion's combi-weapon upgrade does not count toward the marine's two assault weapon limit.

Questions to ask yourself in these kinds of situations:

Does my Champion have his own choices listed?

Is my Champion armed with the upgrade weapon available?

Does the upgrade list my Champion as an available model type to have the upgrade in question.

Notation #1: Champion here is used as a Catch-all for any upgrade character.

Notation #2: in reference to the 3rd question, the only upgrade character that I know of without researching that can take a Squad Special/ Heavy weapon is an Ork Nob in a boyz squad, and that is because the upgrade option says "any ork may exchange their (weapons) for one of the following" and the unit is comprised entirely of Orks, in the form of either Boyz or a Nob.

Notation #3: a combi(whatever) is not the same weapon as a (whatever).

The Champion has is own choices to chose from. The normal Plague Marines have their own separate choices.

So no, equipping a Plague Champion with a Combi-Melta does not count towards the two weapons the Plague Marines can take.

his options are listed under character.

his squad, i.e. not him, can choose to guys to have specials.

So all in all, yes your champ can have a combi and it does NOT count towards your special weapon choices.

luna... please spell out your your and your you're it's rather difficult to read otherwise.
