Quite a few people have said to be stubborn makes stuff like IG blob squads safe from sweeping advance. Im not going to explain the stubborn and sweeping advance rules, I just need to know why. Here are some quotes. They arnt actual quotes just copy pastes

But the cons? They seem to be bigger than the pro's!
A) They can be sweeping advanced very easy

A) Not with a Commissar. Stubborn 9 with a re-roll is about as good as it gets.

Stubborn is arguably the best melee buff in the entire game (other than perhaps countercharge). Stubborn makes it so that if you lose combat, rather than being immediately swept off the field, you stick around, and, unlike fearless, you don't have to take wounds equal to the amount you lost by.

how exactly?

It doesn't affect SA at all, if you get to that point. What it does is make it less likely that you will fail a Morale test and be in position to be swept. No modifiers, that's the key. You're testing on a straight unmodified LD 9. Don't fail a test, you cannot be swept. While it can happen, I've seldom managed to fail two LD 9 Morale tests in a row.

Stubborn means you don't take negative modifiers on LD ever.

Fearless does the same thing and that you can't leave a combat, which is why they take extra wounds.

Stubborn units can be sweeping advanced but they have to fail a LD check first and with LD9 or 10 it's a low chance.

Not to mention they usually bring the standard to allow them to reroll failed morale checks, so its always testing on rerollable ld9. Needs some bad luck to fail 2 tests in a row lol.

ITs the commisar who makes them stubborn in the first place, so they get a reroll in any case....
